I'm a 32 year old guy from Adelaide, Australia. I've never have been happy with my side profile so I looked into a Rhinoplasty. With the help of this website I selected the surgeon I wanted to use. I chose Dr Peter Sylaidis from Adelaide Plastic Surgery Associates. He is very professional and I'm confident that he has done a good job.

I had my surgery yesterday at the Burnside War Memorial Hospital. I cant rate this hospital highly enough. The staff are lovely.

So glad to hear you found RealSelf helpful! Thanks for paying it forward and starting your own story! When do you get your cast/splint removed?

Day 4 of recovery

Lethal82
Just a small update. Swelling around the nose has increased and is now beginning to decrease. Both my nostrils were completely full of dried up blood. The only way to breathe was through my mouth. As a result I now have a very sore throat because it dries out during the night. I was told to sleep upright so that excess blood doesn't flow into my nose. Its not very comfortable and I'm only getting about 2 hours sleep per night. Thankfully some of the blood blocking my nose has fallen out and I can breathe though my nose again.

Hi bro! Thanks for the post! :) do you have any more update photos? In going in for my consultation with Peter soon. Hoping for a procedure in June July :) it's so difficult selecting a doctor in Adelaide :p not much to go off. :) leap of faith!! Haha! But I heard good things about Peter Sylaidis. Anyways yea. Any update photos would be great! :) I'm exceedingly nervous about this. I'm sure you know how it is :) hehe

More shots

Been a while since I updated this. I thought I'd put up a pic of my old nose and then I'll take some of my new one.
I'm a month in now and the tip of my nose has a numb/tingling sensation. It can be quite annoying at times, like when you want to wipe your nose. My airways are still slightly blocked but its getting better. The bruising under my eyes is gone but the is still some puffy areas that are still swollen. Hopefully they will continue to shrink down.
I'm trying not to worry about revision surgery too much because I've still got another two months before I go back to see the doctor and anything can happen. I hope I dont have to though.

Also. I'm assuming the slightly upturned tip in your post op picture will eventually drop back down over time?
February 24, 2015
The tip has started to come down. Its been interesting and nerve wracking watching the changes happen. Peter said the final result will not be known until 3 months after the surgery. At that point when I go back to see him we can discuss any follow up procedures.

Sounds good :) I hear Peter does free revision, we just have to pay hospital and anesthesiologist costs, am I right? :) haha! Sorry if I'm bothering you with questions
February 25, 2015
Correct. Peter will make adjustments for free, but you have to pay the other fees a second time.
