Gorgeous results thus far with lip lift…will post more in upcoming months. Dr. Toft is superb in his skill. He produces results that exceed hopes and expectations. Minor swelling. No bruising. I was able to go out to lunch by day 3. Granted soft foods is all I ate and barely opened my mouth. Haha! But I was able to confidently go into public and only had polysporin on the incision. Now that says A LOT! It was nearly invisible.
Wonderful experience and outcome! Caring, talented, and a natural look. If you want to look done don't go to Dr. T... if you want a natural, refreshed look this is the Doctor for the job. Happy to answer questions via PM!
I had my surgery on 12/15/2020. I am 52 years old and had been extremely unhappy with my neck since my early.mid 40’s, I felt my neck was aging 10-years ahead of my face and it was really bringing me down. In the last three years, I also started to notice sagging and heaviness in my lower face that I was also unhappy with. I went through menopause at 49/50 and it really kicked my ass. I feel like I started to age even more rapidly once I went through that transition even on HRT. Then there was COVID and the daily zoom calls that called attention even more to my aging face and neck. I decided to turn lemons into lemonade and use this COVID thing and mounting vacation days to have this surgery. Even though I was recovering during the holidays I had every excuse to hide from the world and no business travel to worry about as an added bonus. I decided, now is the time as these unique circumstances will not be here forever. During my consultation Dr Toft said my neck was definitely ready, I was a little early to do my face but I had enough loose skin for him to do my face if I wanted to. I decided to do it all at once and I am really glad I did as now that i am gong through this, I would not want to go through this again in the next few years and I wanted to turn back the clock at the same pace for both my neck and face. Obviously, if I waited longer the results would be more pronounced but then again, I would be looking in the mirror and hating how I looked for more years leading up to it. Bottom line, i am so glad I decided to do both face and neck as recovery will be the same. I did my old lady eyelids as an added bonus as this was something else bothering me. I have been considering this surgery for over a year and after a friend had the same surgery with Dr. Toft and I saw her results, I knew it was only a matter of time. I chose Dr. Toft based on her results and his good reputation. He only does facial work and has done hundreds in reality, thousands of these procedures. I also liked that they have their own surgical suite. I knew I was in good hands. I was under local anesthesia for the surgery and I did not even feel a pin prick. I was on the table for about three-hours. So if you are worried about the surgery, forget about it.. it was nothing and before you know it, the process is over. The hard work comes after but considering how extensive the surgery is, the recovery is really fast. I was prescribed opiate based pain killers which I had never taken before and also two lines of defense of anti-nausea meds. Unfortunately, I did get sick twice from the pain killers, despite the first line of defense of anti-nausea medicine, which really sucked as one of the most pronounced symptoms you will have is an extreme tightness in your neck from the muscles being tightened underneath. No fun to throw up. I took the pain killers for two days only and honestly, felt a lot better once they were out of my system. I would say I was never in strong pain but I was uncomfortable, especially for the first three days. I was very swollen and it seemed to peak at three days post op for me and then start to come down. Your neck will be extremely tight to the point that it is hard to move your jaw and you must eat soft foods for the first few days. My neck tightness started to loosen up after about a week but even two-weeks out, I still have tightness. After one week I felt remarkably well and two weeks even better. I had surgery on Tuesday and went back to work on Monday. I am in my home office and many were out for the holidays so it worked out great. I would not have wanted to show myself in person in an office that soon but under these conditions, it worked out great. I went out in public six days post op with some cover up on my lower eyes. The upper blepharoplasty didn’t hurt at all but did cause quite a bit of visible bruising on my eyelids and even under my eyes. That was the most visible sign that i had “something” done. Two-weeks post op I am feeling great. I still have a lot of tightness and swelling in my neck under my chin. My face swelling has mostly subsided. I did underestimate the healing from the upper blepharoplasty as I still have some spotty bruises on my eyelids and under my eye. When I bruise it takes a long time to clear up. Also, my eyelids feel some numbness and heaviness as the incisions are healing. This will go away in the coming weeks. I put on makeup yesterday for the first time since the procedure but I did not like how my makeup went on my lids so I think I will go sans makeup for another week or so and allow more time to heal. In summary, I am still going through the healing process but am already happy with what i am seeing. I am thrilled that I made this decision and can move forward with the rest of my life with a fresh look. The Dr. did recommend fat transfer to my face for me but I have little fat to take. I am quite lean which unfortunately doesn’t help my face to look any younger. I am going to likely do some fillers a few months down the road once I feel completely recovered. I will add some additional pictures over the next several weeks as I continue to heal. Updated on 11 Jan 2021: I just uploaded an updated video. Feeling great and so happy I had this done. I upped my workouts last week and plan to slowly continue to ramp up my activity level. I am still healing and have some swelling and tightness but doing great. See my video for more details. Updated on 16 Jan 2021: I saw the Dr for my month check up and he told me I was not being assertive enough scrubbing where my incisions were and I have more scabbing then I should which will create bigger scars. He told me not to worry about them opening and I admit I have been overly tentative. I still think my incisions around my ears are healing phenomenally well. I showed a friend up close last night and she claimed she couldn’t see them. Regardless, I am taking the doctors advice and being more aggressive scrubbing the area. I am going back to weight training today and have been running on my treadmill at a lower intensity since my three-week post op point. I still feel tightness and swelling under my neck and am numb around my jaw line and the sides of my face. I think this will take a few more weeks to go away. Overall everything feels good.
Upon meeting Dr Toft I felt he was professional, courteous and attentive. What sets him apart from other clinicians in his field is that Dr Toft is humble, and kind. He will listen to what you want done, and do his absolute best to achieve your ideal esthetic and functional results. I feel that his approach is especially unique because he caters to what would look natural and good for each individual patient, which of coarse varies. In summary, he will do the best job for your individual case and has the esthetic eye to see what exactly that is,. He will show you what that will look like on a computer simulation. His surgical hand skills are exceptional because what he shows you in the simulation is how you will end up looking, which is incredible. I highly recommend him!
Dr. Toft and his staff have done an astounding job making me feel comfortable and well cared for during this journey. I had a SMAS facelift with upper and lower lids done on 4/12/17. I'm amazed at the results and so thankful that I finally took the leap and got it done. I knew at the consultation that Dr. Toft was perfect for the job and I'm so very happy with the outcome!
I am a new patient to Dr. Toft. I did my research, combined with my past experiences, came in for a free consultation with Dr. Toft, and I chose Dr. Toft. I have battled skin problems all my life.(I even had a facelift at 16 yrs old because of what I have been through-which was way too young) Aging skin is now added to my already scarred and pitted skin. Dr. Toft went through different options that would be best for me. He was very kind, and very caring. He also was very direct with me about the process and the possible outcomes. I was made aware of every possible scenario. I knew I was in good hands. I am very thankful that I found Dr. Toft. Also, his whole staff is just Wonderful. They are so welcoming, and really help you feel comfortable. Dr. Toft is very talented, and I am confident in his work, and his whole staff. I will be returning to him. I highly recommend Dr. Toft.
About 3 years ago a doctor pointed out that my eyelids have started to droop and ever since then, that is all I notice! My eyelids became hooded as the years went by, especially when I smiled. This is something that is in my genes. My poor mother's eyelids come out past her eyelashes! So, we both decided to go in for a consultation together (this way I could show where I was headed). I took some time to research good facial doctors in the Sacramento area, and found Dr. Toft. He and his staff are amazing! He spoke with both of us about what he could do (free of cost!). Well, to make a long story shorter, I scheduled my eyelid surgery and mom scheduled her eyelid/face lift!! PreOp: I was sent a booklet of information to go over. When I can in to the office for my pre op, they went over all this information with me. I felt comfortable and had all my questions answered. Jen, makes this process so much fun and easy! Day of Surgery: I show up for my surgery already in a happy mood (they make you take a Valium 30 min. prior to your appt). The staff brought me back to the surgery room and got me into a gown. They placed an IV in and prepared me for my "happy juice". And let me tell you, this stuff made me so comfortable and loopy! From there, Dr. Toft came in, snip snip, sew me up, and I was good to go! Literally! The whole procedure took maybe a total of 20 mins!!! I rested for about 15 more mins after that, and was sent home. It was by far the easiest surgery I have ever encountered! PostOp: Once home, I was religious about my frozen peas (20 mins on/20 mins off) for the first three days. This kept the swelling down and gave me no bruising. Nothing hurt so I didnt take any of my pain meds. I think the hardest part was sleeping propped up. On the 4th day I started to noticed that I was becoming very itchy. And by the 6th day, the itching had become unbearable and was keeping me up all night. Thank goodness my Post Op appt was the following day, because I found out I was have an allergic reaction to the ointment I was applying to the lids ;-/ Dr. Toft removed my sutures and said to discontinue the ointment. From that day forward, I have itched, hurt, bruised....basically, this is an easy process. Results: I am so excited to see the end result, but so far I am very happy. Now, most people I talk to have said they don't see any different. But I have included photos that show differently. I will keep you all updated as I continue to heal! Updated on 31 Dec 2015: Updated on 10 Jan 2016: Finally with some makeup! Still haven't applied eye shadow yet. Updated on 30 Jan 2016: 6 weeks post surgery and first day wearing eyeshadow (I waiting as long as I could to wear full eye makeup!)
I had a necklift done 3 weeks ago. My lower face and under my chin and around my ears look great!!! . But my neck is red and feels like I have a really bad sun burn. I have no idea if this is normal or not. I see the doctor again in a week. I hope to have some answers then. It is very hard to go around hiding my neck when this procedure is supposed to make me feel better about myself :( Updated on 14 Apr 2015: I'm feeling pretty good. Overall I'm pleased. I still have a couple concerns . I will talk to the doctor Thursday. The redness in my neck is disappearing but there is a weird ridge under my neck when I move a certain way and a little fullness when I put my head down. Not sure if this will be better over time or not. I hope so :)
I went to Dr. Toft after a friend had some work done. My primary goal was to bring in my nostrils slightly because I have a very slim face. I was very pleased with the result and the staff. I will be going back again this year for full rhinoplasty because the upper portion of my nose has created a strange hollowing effect to my lower eyes but I know that I am in good hands because Dr. Toft errors on the side of less is more so it never looks like you have had WORK done. Great Surgeon.
If your face or neck is giving you cause for concern, visit Dr. Toft for a consultation. I originally met with Dr. Toft following dreadful results from a smart lipo procedure to my neck that was performed by a different doctor. Given my age (55), Dr. Toft explained that my neck muscle and skin laxity would not make me a good candidate for the smart lipo procedure to begin with. That was why I had several vertical ripples and loose hanging skin on my neck all the way up to my ears. Smart lipo could only resolve some of the extra fat in my neck but not the lax muscle and skin, leaving my neck looking worse than before the procedure. Dr. Toft's explanation for the outcome I received from smart lipo and his recommendation for a neck lift made perfect sense to me. On top of it all, the cost for a neck lift was not much more than the atrocious smart lipo! When considering a neck lift to repair the results from the smart lipo, I elected to attend an informal seminar where Dr. Toft introduced his impeccable credentials, office staff, and his philosophy for achieving natural looking results with his procedures. This was a very fun and informative seminar. There were about 12 other men and women in attendance and we all felt comfortable since there was something about our respective face or neck that gave us angst. There was some laughter, many before and after pictures of some of his previous patients, and lots of questions addressed. I could tell that Dr. Toft was sincere about doing what was right for each patient and that he took exceptional care and pride in his work. I would encourage anyone with concerns about their face or neck to attend one of his seminars. I needed more time to convince my husband that for me, I just had to get my neck fixed. I decided to get my upper eyelids done first. I was so impressed with how perfectly choreographed the staff worked together to make the experience pleasant for their patients. Despite the stitches and a tiny bit of swelling and blood on my eyelids, I had to giggle with joy immediately following the procedure: my eyelids no longer drooped and true to what Dr. Toft had promised during the seminar, the results looked natural! I knew then that Dr. Toft was the answer to my hideous neck. My husband was hopeful as he was worn down by my 18 months of daily despair over my smart lipo disaster, but he was still a bit reluctant. Dr. Toft performed a neck and facelift and once again that experience was phenomenal. The next morning, my husband took me to my follow-up appointment, where I had my head wrap removed. Because my husband still had a few reservations about me having a second surgery to my neck, I was worried that he would be in a bad mood over taking time off work and having to wait for me at Dr. Toft's office. Instead, he was very complimentary of Dr. Toft and enjoyed meeting him. My husband also appreciated that Dr. Toft's staff made him some decaf coffee and offered to fax some paperwork on his behalf so that he could get some work done while waiting for me. He was in a great mood when I was finished with my appointment and decided to take the rest of the day off! I am happy to report that I never looked scary nor felt the need to go into hiding when my friends and family wanted to see the results right away. I am elated with the natural looking results. AND, if you need another powerful testimony of my results; I am driving my friend to her facial procedure with Dr. Toft next week.
Looking at your photos, it appears you are a good candidate for a chin implant and neck liposuction. I would need to feel your neck to assess elasticity to see if you need a necklift to remove excess skin, or if you can get away with the two procedures above.
While it is not unusual to have some contour abnormalities 4 weeks after surgery, the severity and persistence of your contour abnormalities is concerning. If your surgeon does not have a good answer for you, it is very reasonable to get another opinion.
You need a necklift revision. There is no laser that will improve your neck banding and scar tissue. Your surgeon needs to excise the scar tissue and surgically treat the neck banding, followed by removing the excess skin in the neck.
As a Facial Plastic Surgeon, I always recommend going to a Facial Plastic Specialist for multiple-revision surgery. Often a specialist has more training and experience with difficult cases. That being said, if your doctor has done a large number of revisions (even if they are first revisions), has a good reputation in town, and you have seen and are happy with his work, you will probably be fine. I would ask him questions on how he will address the old scars, address the hairline, and other specific concerns you have. If you are comfortable with his answers, then that is good. I would look at some photos and ask for phone numbers of recent patients. If you have a good feeling about him and his techniques, then I would go with it. If you are unsure, it never hurts to get other opinions.
