WORTH IT
I am 66 years old and have wanted to do this for the last 30 years . I always put something else or someone first before taking care of this very embarrassing self conscious problem! I am scheduled for Feb 21, 2018! I can do this!would love to be a C! I worry Because I am 5 foot two and weigh 176 pounds I’m trying to lose some weight in this next 30 days because I know my stomach’s going to look horrible once I have small boobs. My doctor didn’t have a problem with it she said I will feel better and be more inspired to exercise after I get rid of my very large breast.

I read that wedge pillows are helpful to keep in position while you sleep post op.

38E down to 38C at age 60, now 7 weeks post op. Didn't want my breasts to ever look or feel the same, that's why I did this! Very pleased with results. I didn't get anything ready before surgery, just plenty food in freezer. If you don't have anyone there to reach for things, move items you use a lot. I just used pillows I had around the house and my dr. told me to wear surgical bra until they told me to get another so I bought none before surgery. Those of us who put this off for others' needs till our 60's appreciate it So much. Good Luck sister!

V-shaped body pillow to help you sleep in a more elevated position and not roll over was very useful. I am 61 and four weeks post-surgery and I can honestly say it was the best thing I have ever done for me

Oh and KNIX bras are the most comfortable that I found. JML comfort bras also good. I found that I needed a fairly wide band around the ribs in the early days. Good luck I am sure that you will not regret your decision

I am 62 & am 12 days post op. Already no regrets even though there is still swelling & shape isn't established yet. Dressings off in 2 days, will certainly welcome first shower!! Have been doing the bird bath to date as specialist said no showers for first 2 weeks. Thought I would really struggle with that as a 2 shower per day lady usually. All good as looking forward to end result. All straight forward so far.

Pre op with PC physician done!

I have been cleaned by my PC physician for my upcoming BR. Yeah! Counting the days til Feb 21. I think I’m going to call this week and make an appointment with my surgeon. I have several questions that I think I will be more comfortable asking before surgery and not under Anesthesia after surgery. My husband will be with me and I mean no disrespect but he doesn’t always listen and understand directions if it doesn’t personally concern him ( lol) so I want to know a little bit more about what the plan is for after surgery.
She explained the Procedure quite well the day of my initial exam with her but I was so nervous and thought I was going to go to the surgeons office be examined and then it would all have to be approved through my Medicare . I was so shocked the day of my exam with her she said I absolutely qualified and got me scheduled that day for February 21 so I was a little bit shocked ,nervous and excited.
I have done some shopping and purchased stool softeners ,gauze ,tape a big pillow ,sport bras and antibiotic cream, bio oil etc . I’m sure there will be more things I need but I thought I would at least start stocking up.

The most important things to do, until your incisions are closed, are a) try to avoid any movements that involve your chest area (lifting, bending, leaning, pulling, pushing etc), and b) be very aware of hygiene - no soaking in the bath, spotless towels after showering (I used disposable ones for my chest area) and antiseptic rinse in your laundry. So get your cleaning done beforehand, organise the things you’ll need at mid-level and get front-fastening clothing (bras, pjs/nightshirts and day shirts). I raised the protein content in my diet and consumed more vitamin c for healing too but don’t really know how much difference that made. I also took proper laxatives (not stool softeners) from day 2 so avoided the dreaded constipation bloat completely. Take a pillow to put between you and the safety belt on any car journeys until healed too. I hope your husband is going to support you. It will probably be frustrating having him do everything (in the wrong way!) but remind yourself that if you follow the rules it will only be short-term. Good luck - you will be so thrilled to finally get that heavy load off your chest!

Dettol antibacterial laundry cleanser - you add it to the rinse water for hand washing, or put in fabric softener drawer in washing machine:

I'm taking it easy for the next few weeks & I'm not going to risk causing any damage to my lovely new girls by overdoing it for anyone or anything. Hope all goes well for you - you are going to be so happy
