Getting Rid of Weight Gain from Medication

I lost 43 pounds with the help of the Orbera gastric balloon. I had gained weight as a side effect from medication and it seemed impossible to lose those extra pounds. After two years of trying it on my own, I decided I needed more support. I found Orbera here on Real Self and went to Dr. Naim in Los Angeles. It seemed like a great fit for me - someone whose BMI is between 30 and 40 and who isn't quite ready for something as permanent as a sleeve or bypass.

Orbera helps you feel full faster and stay full longer, so you have the support you need to stick to a healthy eating plan. I exercised everyday for at least 30 minutes, ate low carb, and the scale started to move!

I had very few side effects. I was maybe nauseous for a day or two after insertion and that was it. I'd say the only downside I experienced was hair loss, which is a common side effect of losing large amounts of weight. It should grow back after some time, so I'm not too worried.

I've managed to continue to maintain my weight loss and I couldn't be happier. The photo on the right is me one year ago on my 30th birthday, and the photo on the left is me at my 31st birthday.

I have gain a few pounds back but that is a result of my own doing. I have incorporated alcohol and carbs back into my diet. I’m happy and still do not regret my decision. I started at 185, my lowest was 140, my current is 150.
