I consulted with Dr. Chen regarding lip augmentation. I'm an advisor on RealSelf so I have extensive experience interfacing with surgeons and staff. My experience with him & his office mgr Brittany exceeded expectations. Dr. Chen, despite no longer offering the procedure I was seeking, took time explaining to me precisely what I'm seeking and how to achieve the results. He also kindly referred me to a colleague. Beyond impressed and thankful to this selfless surgeon. Highly recommended
I cannot express enough how grateful I am to have found Dr. Chen. He is by far the most kind and compassionate doctor I have ever met in my life. Thanks to him, I can stand looking at photos of myself again. There was a long period of time where it was even hard to look in the mirror. In addition, he has a very gentle touch. I did not even bruise from the procedures! My first rhinoplasty was a nightmare with the pain, swelling, bruising, and blood that I dealt with for weeks. There was none of that after my revision with Dr. Chen.
I have been wanting to have a revision Rhinoplasty for many years. I have a technically difficult nose (thick skin). My nose is now drooping and has a thick tip. I know that finding an extremely talented and experienced surgeon for rhinoplasty- especially revision- is imperative. After a LOT of research (and I was willing to go almost anywhere for an excellent physician and ,even more importantly, safe facility) I found Dr. Achih Chen at The Georgia Center- less than an hour from my house. This surgeon is highly qualified and much in demand. He only does facial/neck surgery and has an excellent reputation. There was a 2 month wait for a consultation but I was extremely fortunate to be able to take a cancellation appointment and got in in about a month. The Georgia Center is a free-standing facility and is well maintained. The staff are very kind and helpful. Dr. Chen listened carefully to me and repeated back what he understood me to want. He was very honest as to the difficulty of my nose revision. I was already aware that with thick skin it is much harder to drape and mold it but he felt he could achieve significant improvement. I also mentioned that I wanted whole face laser resurfacing and a neck lift. Dr. Chen does not do a neck lift on its own- it is coupled with a lower face lift otherwise excess skin will bunch around your ears. I explained that I wanted to get the work done as fast as possible as my daughter is getting married in February and I know that it takes some time for all the healing to subside and the redness from the resurfacing to dissipate. Even tough Dr. Chen is booked up into the spring of 2020 he does take into account special occasions and long story short, when a patient needed to postpone their surgery I was able to get the spot. I am having the surgery at the end of this week. I am nervous just because it is surgery but am excited to see the results! I will hopefully update my recovery and have pictures. Updated on 4 Aug 2019: I am looking forward to seeing the final results. Obviously the redness and swelling will last for some time but excited to see how it evolves. Dr. Chen is a talented and competent physician so I believe I am in good hands. I will post more after the procedure. Updated on 4 Aug 2019: Yesterday I had my whole face laser resurfacing, revision rhinoplasty and neck/lower face lift. Everything is obviously very red and swollen but I am so happy with how Dr. Chen lifted my nasal tip! I can't wait until all the swelling goes down. The surgery went really well yesterday and it took about 5 1/2 in total. It was performed under deep sedation but not general. I have some periods of post-op amnesia but did well through the rest of the day. Last night was pretty miserable - Dr. Chen warned me that the compression bandaging around me head that tightly flattens the ears against the head was extremely uncomfortable. Again, Dr. Chen warned me so it wasn't a surprise. Also, I had quite a bit of pain under my chin (compression was very tight on the incision there). Even though redness and swelling of my facial skin looks horrible, it really only feels like a bad sunburn- hot, tingling, itchy and burning but certainly the least of the discomfort. Lastly, I had a killer headache. All in all it was a long night but I think it will get better from here. Today Dr. Chen came to my hotel room and changed the dressing- thank heavens- to a less tight one (pictured). On Tuesday I can remove this dressing, wash my face and take a shower! I return in 10 days and get my sutures out. I plan to keep posting pictures through my recovery. I am very, very impressed with Dr. Chen, his facility and his staff. Updated on 9 Aug 2019: I still have quite a bit of swelling and redness. The pain is not bad just a bit hot, itchy and numbness from the nose down. My ears feel stuffy and it is hard to hear. My nose looks the most dramatically better- even with current swelling. I really can’t believe how much better my nose looks actually. At this point of my recovery I still can’t go it in public (without scaring children and adults!). The oozing and crusting has definitely decreased significantly over the past 24 hours.. thank goodness. I do see areas where the redness is decreasing also which gives me a lift. Recovery is getting old. My eyes are not as puffy and I can see clearly again. It still feels much better to have a thick layer of vaseline all over my face. Updated on 16 Aug 2019: My face from the laser resurfacing is still (as expected) quite red. There is quite a bit of dryness so I am really slapping on the moisturizer. I have notice a tightness in my skim though. The surface appears to be getting better too. The redness is improving fast though. Swelling and bruising from the neck lift is taking its time (also as expected). I am thrilled with my nose (revision rhinoplasty). I was honestly not expecting such great results- my skin is very thick so not easy to ‘drape’ and so much drooping! I am incredibly happy with the way it has come out. I am expecting it to look even better when all the swelling is gone. I will never have a ‘button’ nose but I am so happy my sagging bulbous tip is gone!!! Miracle! My biggest complaint would be the swelling and numbness in my lower face/jaw/under jaw. I hate the stiffness, swelling and discomfort. It is improving and it has been less than 2 weeks so I can deal with it but it is the worst part for me. I went out for the first time 10 days after the work. Redness was hard to cover but I don’t think anyone was staring. Updated on 8 Sep 2019: I am so happy with my continuing recovery. I would recommend Dr. Chen and his staff to anyone. I still have facial redness, the tip of my nose will continue to have swelling for a number of months (which I was well-informed prior to the surgery) and I still have some swelling under my neck and on the sides of my face but recovery is going really well. I can’t stress how happy I am with everything Dr. Chen has done. I took a picture- I am only wearing mineral powder, eye and blush. No heavy foundation so the redness is fading well. Let me preface this by saying that Dr. Chen is THE BEST doctor! I trust him 100%, and will always go to him and refer everyone to him. I have had multiple procedures by multiple doctors from all over the country, and I can't say that I've ever been completely satisfied from start to finish, and have been downright disappointed with several outcomes... Dr. Chen is humble, kind, and takes the time to listen to every one of your concerns and explain thoroughly everything that he suggest, -as well as his staff (love Britani!). The care, kindness, concern, and quality that he and his staff provides is RARE and the best that I've ever encountered. I have had mid-face cheek implants and an upper blepharoplasty with Dr. Chen. I'm three months out and I have healed beautifully. Dr. Chen will be doing a revision rhinoplasty on me in April to fix my septum that was shortened too much by a famous doctor in LA. I'm so excited and know that my results will be beautiful.
Wonderful. I am a difficult patient with thick oily skin. Dr Chen had the task of revision rhinoplasty. He did a great job with what he had to work with and has been great at following me thru this to make sure I get the best results possible. His staff is great to work with as well. I wouldn't trust my face with anyone else.
One day I looked in the mirror and saw an old woman of 68 years but my heart, soul and spirit still felt as if I was 30. My eyelids had fallen and I could hardly see. The eye surgeon who removed my cataracts highly recommended Dr Achih Chen as the best plastic surgeon of all. I've had three procedures done. Dr Chen performed a browlift, facelift and lip transplants and I'm totally satisfied. Dr Chen exceeded my expectations. I want to thank Dr Chen and his professional staff for everything they've done for me. I feel like my young self again.
Dr. Chen was recommended to me by my dermatologist as a very competent plastic surgeon. His facility was roomy, immaculate, and equipped for hospital surgical procedures. Its design was such that one patient was unlikely to see another patient. This added to my sense that I was the one and only patient and was, thus, the favorite, a feeling that I suspect is engendered in every patient. During my consultations Dr. Chen's demeanor was one of caring and his answers and explanations were clear, and understandable, proving invaluable to me as a patient. His exceptional communication skills and concern continued through the pre- and post- operative stages. The emotional result of my procedures was exuberance and gratitude. The physical result was flawless improvement, based on his skilled interpretation of our conversations and his ability to translate my clinical expectations into reality. I am indebted to Dr. Chen for his insight and skill. The post-surgical care was wonderful. Dr. Chen and his knowledgeable staff made certain that my husband and I were fully informed both orally and with printed instructions. We were encouraged to contact Dr. Chen at any time of day or night if we had questions or concerns following surgery. In view of Dr. Chen's surgical skills, his demeanor, and excellence of care, I'm compelled to assign five stars. This is not done lightly, as each star represents a positive level of life-change for me.
Hello everyone. I am 32 years old. My first rhinoplasty was last year June 19, 2015 when I was 31 years old. Now a year later I am left with uneven nostrils, hanging tip, and my bridge is to high. You can read my journey from last year on my profile. I already had my consultation yesterday. I will post pictures of my post op nose later. I can not wait to get this done. My date is August 10, next month! Updated on 9 Aug 2016: I will be having my revision on the 25th of this month, I am so excited!! I will be putting up the morphed imaging, the before (pre-op) and the pictues of how I will look afterwards. It is nothing too dramatic, which I don't want no one to notice I had a nose job. I'm just really concern about my tip, alar base reduction, and how my side profile will look, I hate the way I look from the side. Updated on 9 Aug 2016: The pictures were taken in Dr. Chen office by him, he took my pre-op pictures and afterwards we discussed what I wanted done. Which is a alar base, tip refine, and thinner bridge. I really hate the way my side profile looks. I hope this will be the last nose job. Updated on 27 Aug 2016: So far so good!! I have a lot of swelling, but that is expected. I have mininum pain, but I have my pain medications to keep it under control. The surgery went smoothly, and I sm happy thus far. Updated on 28 Aug 2016: As you can see my nose is not as perfect like people on here think it is. So I decided to put the pics up to show everyone. Look at the hanging colluema, and my bridge is really high, and my tip is deopping. The last doctor also gave me uneven nostrils (alar base reduction). I had ro wait over a year to get the money up to get all of this fix. And I beleive this will be the last time. I did a lot of reaearch this time and he is well over qualified; he ia amazing!! I am so happy I choosed Dr. CHEN!!
Even thou I am in my mid twenties, my public relations job and media career kind of forced to pay more attention to my facial features and enhace them, I have been using fillers since I was 21 genetically I've had flat cheeks and not a well defined chin, I saw the reviews of dr Achich, and I am really happy with the results, so far I only have one week post off but each day with the swelling going down I can see a more defined profile and face, he really is a gifted surgeon with an amazing staff that just makes the whole proceduee feel like a breeze, i am really pleased with my experience at the georgia center... It was worth the travels and i will be saving up in fillers every 7 months ... Highly recommend facial implants with de Achich, he is an expert in facial surgery!! :))
I just wanted to share my experience at The Georgia Center. Dr. Chen performed my upper blepharoplasty and I couldn't be happier with the outcome. I never could wear eye shadow because of the excess skin on the sides of my eyes. Thanks genetics! Dr. Chen, along with his entire staff was readily available to answer all my questions before and after surgery making me feel very comfortable throughout my entire experience. I felt more than confident in Dr. Chen's ability to address my concern while preserving a natural appearance. I felt like I was the center of attention while at the office. I was always greeted with a friendly face and escorted directly into an exam room. Needless to say I love my eyes and love putting on eye make up everyday! Dr. Chen and staff provided a comfortable environment and would highly recommend Dr. Chen to anyone I know interested in having facial procedures. I'm looking forward to having my rhinoplasty with Dr. Chen in a few months!
Computer simulation in rhinoplasty is an excellent communication tool for both the surgeon and the patient. Surgeons can use the simulation to show what they feel is achievable, and patients can use these simulations to discuss with their surgeons their goals to see if these are achievable in their surgeons' assessment. The computer simulation is not an exact representation of a post-operative result. Additionally, computer simulation may be performed over and over until a desired result is simulated; however, whether such a result may be realistically achieved will depend on each individual's anatomy. With respect to your simulation, I would recommend that you meet with your surgeon to discuss your concerns and goals to see if (s)he feels they are achievable. In addition, chin projection affects the perception of nasal projection. You may also ask your surgeon to simulate a chin implant or chin augmentation. This may change how you feel about the proportions of your face.
My practice is limited only to cosmetic facial plastic surgery. Many of my facelift patients have had tummy tuck surgery within a short timeframe following their facelift surgery. As long as you don't any medical contraindications for tummy tuck surgery and your plastic surgeon is aware and agrees, there should not be any issues with scheduling your tummy tuck two months following facelift.
Although individual preferences vary, most patients are ready to go out in public after 10-14 days. Most of the swelling is resolved by that time, and makeup can be used to cover any bruising. If you are planning a significant public appearance, I usually recommend having your procedure at least 4 weeks prior to the event if possible.
There is really no difference in healing, recovery, or final result by having upper and lower blepharoplasty surgeries done at separate times. As you realize, the disadvantage to having the procedures done separately is that you will have two recovery periods and the additional cost of a separate anesthesia and facility fee. If you are unsure about having both procedures done, other than cost, there is no disadvantage to having them performed at separate times. I wish you a successful surgery and a great result!
Veneers should not have any impact on rhinoplasty. Although your anesthesia team will take great care of you, I would let them know that you have porcelain veneers so that they take extra care to avoid damaging them. Good luck with your procedures and safe travels!
