I have a double mastectomy with no reconstruction. I'm lean with a BMI of 21, so lean that my ribs show. I like the rest of my body just fine the way it is and am physically active. If I don't have enough belly fat to make two breasts, are there other options for autologous reconstruction that will not hurt my ability to dance, have sex, lift weights, etc.? Which offer the least scarring? I had open-abdominal fibroid-removal surgery about 15 years ago but I hear this need not rule out a DIEP.
Im 10weeks after masectomy and immedoate reconstructive surgery.i have a very bad pain in my left rib at top.simce day 1 i thought it was the drain pulling or catching but after drains removed still there.consultant 1st put it down to bruising but now doesnt know.its there all time and gets worse on and off.it really is draining me.my breasts are still slightly filling with fluid if been getting them syringed every 2weeks Can anyone recommend what to do or what this can be?thank you kindly
P.s. measured my ribs and I measure 12.5... my surgeon only uses saline implants which I am fine with. I was a 38DD before cancer. October 25 is the surgery day for expanders. Wish me luck!
I hope this question doesn't sound silly. So, if I have 650cc implants after a double mastectomy, can sleeping on my stomach eventually cause my ribs to cave in slightly? I wouldn't want to end up with less space for my lungs as I age. Thanks for your answers, I hope this question wasn't too ridiculous!!
I have a huge concave area on left side where rib was removed. It looks like I was born with a chest wall deformity. Can this be fixed? Not finding info online about this. Can the area where they monitored my flaps be fixed so the incision is a straight line? I feel like they botched me up. My sister had same surgery with different docs and her results are far better. We both did this prophylactically. I am so depressed as I could have used my sister's doctor.
I have had cording over my right ribs and abdomen after my bilateral total mastectomies with tissue expanders and alloderm placed. I have received physical therapy for this with cold laser treatments and myofascial release. This weekend I have developed the same thing on the left side now. Will the exchange surgery help with this? I have one more month to go. Or should I revisit the physical therapist? Massage helps somewhat, but not completely. Thank you.
I had a Free Flap TRAM 16 years ago (bilat). I believe I cracked or maybe even broke a rib(s) a couple weeks ago which explains the chest soreness I have had although I continue to have severe pain in my breasts most especially in the aureola. Not having a lot of sensation in my breasts at all normally has caused me to be concerned about feeling such intense pain ever since my accident. Could this be something other than damaged ribs and contusions?
