What Is The Vampire Facelift?

by

A day doesn’t go by that I don’t have a new patient come in asking to look younger. They want to get rid of a few wrinkles here and a few wrinkles there…in essence “rejuvenate” their face.

The latest trend that I have begun recommending my patients to achieve this youthful appearance is the ‘Vampire facelift,’ a procedure popularized recently by Kim Kardashian. Naturally, the first question I get is “Dr. Mendieta, what is that? Is that really a procedure? It’s sounds so strange.”

Well, as you can see from the picture, this non-surgical procedure involves the reinjection of PRFM (platelet rich fibrin matrix) into multiple areas of the patients face to treat wrinkles. I say “reinject” because PRFM is derived from the patients own blood, hence the spottiness. Essentially, we are using the patient’s own blood to erase a few years off your face. Instead of creating a “pull-back” effect, the Vampire facelift can help develop volume in the cheeks, which helps form youthful definition and angles.

So, this begs the question, is the Vampire facelift right for you? Every patient is different, and therefore must be approached in a different manner.
