Learn more about Sculptra

Sculptra, by Galderma

What is it: As we age and our natural levels of Estrogen and Testosterone wane, we produce lower and lower levels of Collagen. Collagen is part of the connective tissue in the skin that creates firmness, suppleness and constant renewal of skins cells vital for our skin’s elasticity. Sculptra is a popular injectable used to add volume to areas of the face to create a soft, natural, more youthful recontouring of the face. Scultptra is different from topical treatments and other facial fillers because it works with your body to help revitalize the production of collagen, the natural substance that gives your skin resiliency, elasticity and shape. The result is a more youthful looking appearance that can last more than two years.

When is Sculptra recommended:  Sculptra is recommended when the effects of aging are such that other injectable products alone will not provide the desired result for an overall fuller face impacted by many years of lost Collagen production. Sculptra offers this benefit because your own body is producing the necessary Collagen right for you across the fully treated area. Injectables such as Botox and Juvederm are wrinkle and line specific may often be used in conjunction with Botox and Juvederm to create the most subtle and natural result.

Is Sculptra Safe:  Sculptra has been used in Europe since 1999. Sculptra is more difficult to inject than Botox or fillers like Restylane and Juvederm, so be sure your Sculptra injector is experienced. Dr. Zienowicz at bodybyZ is a board certified surgeon with years of injection experience and a designated Top Injector status to demonstrate his ability to provide safe and effective Sculptra injections.

How Long will Sculptra Last: Generally, you can expect Sculptra to last up to two years with an annual maintenance treatment. Full results should be expected from 45-90 days after initial treatment as your body builds your own Collagen.

What is the Sculptra Injection Process: While uncomfortable, Sculptra is not painful. Sculptra is mixed with lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Prior to your Sculptra injection, we will also apply a topical numbing cream to further reduce any discomfort.

What should I expect immediately after Sculptra treatment: You may experience mild to moderate swelling at the injection site and a little bit of bruising which is usually minimal.

Preparing for Sculptra treatment: As with most injectables, in order to avoid bruising, do not take ibuprofen, aspirin or naproxyn or any drug which increases bleeding for 1-2 weeks prior to treatment.

While Sculptra can make up for years of reduced Collagen production, there are other healthy steps that can be taken to support long-lasting Sculptra results such as:

·       Lifestyle Choices - smoking, too much sun, not enough hydration and poor diet choices will destroy the benefits of Collagen

·       Important Supplements such as Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin D, Calcium and Vitamin C

·       Exercise – keeping muscles developed to reduce bone density loss
