I've had a 350 pound weight loss resulting in excessive skin. I am wondering if procedures that remove the excess skin, such as a brachioplasty and upper body lift, cause a risk to damage of the lymph nodes? If there is a risk, what kind of problems could result?
Im aware that lymph nodes should not disrupted during a brachioplasty, but what about the lymphatic system in a whole? I keep reading stories of women contracting cellulitis years after their surgery and it being contributed to the lymphatic system being distrusted?
I had a sentinel node biopsy. Two lymph nodes were removed with the surgery. The first one positive. I also have had radiation and SGAP reconstruction to the breast. I suffer no symptoms of edema in my arm. Would having radiation rule out the possibility?
10 years ago I had a double mastectomy I had total lymph node clearance on right axilla and 3 sentinel lymph nodes out of left axilla. I had chemotherapy but no radiotherapy I have a lot of loose skin due to weight loss and wondered if I would be able to have an arm lift?
