I am 5 months post accutane and have dry skin on my face. It looks as if it needs to peel i.e. the outer layer looks dehydrated. It also has a slight brownish colour all over, maybe from sensitivity to the sun that I am even now still experiencing, but that has been improving. The skin especially around my temples, where the skin is thin, now has large pores and this weird grainy texture. I think that it might be from all the excessive peeling while on the meds. How can I improve this texture?
I started with 40mg a day on my first month and got an IB even though I was eating healthy. It then went away, but when I started eating worse, my skin still didnt breakout as bad. Im into my fifth day in the second month and I have painful breakouts in the bottom of my chin and pimples all along my jawline. I had a breakout on my cheek thats kind of going away, but its leaving discoloration. Can anyone explain why or give me foods to eat to get rid of the pimples and discoloration?
I'm on a low dose of accutane. 40mg 2X a week. I'd like to get a large tattoo. I understand, and know from experience that the medicine affects how I heal. Skin discoloration being a common factor. With the low dose, how long should I wait to get a tattoo once I stop taking it? I would think 3 months would be long enough to purge the medicine and for my skin to turn over. Thoughts?
I've been taking Accutane for 6 months. The dosage for the first 3 months was 20mg per day. Then the dosage was increased to 40mg per day. I have noticed a significant change in the enamel of my teeth as well as an increased tooth sensitivity. I immediately alerted my dermatologist who suggested I stop taking medication for 6 weeks, after which we would reconvene to assess the condition. I am keen to finish my treatment, I have 10 weeks to go, but I am concerned that I could damage my teeth.
