Week four

I'm just starting my fourth week. I had to go into my doctor earlier as I was going to be out of town, and my prescription would have run out.

He upped my dosage to 40mg one day, and 40mg twice a day every second day. In the past two days my giant cysts have gone down and are only red blotches when I don't have makeup on. What a relief!

The day I went in to see my dermatologist I woke up with the terrible urge to pee, and what felt like a severe UTI, reading reviews online scared me a bit into thinking it could be something more serious from accutane. However, when I mentioned it to my derm he didn't seem concerned and just said to monitor it. I'm not one for pharmaceutical measures unless it's necessary (accutane being necessary for my acne). So I continued to self treat with cranberry juice, lots of water and some other herbal remedies. The frequency to pee increased significantly, and a few days later I started getting kidney pain which grew to be extremely painful. Eventually I drug my butt into the walk in and was diagnosed with a kidney infection and put on cipro.

I've been on cipro for about 3 days now and feeling a lot better although I still pee about every hour.

I'm drinking about 4-5 litres of water a day, I can't seem to quench my thirst. Which is new, as I found it quite difficult to want to drink fluids for the first three weeks.

For face wash I have switched over to cetaphil, and same with face cream. I still apply my biacna gel in the evenings before bed and my azaclear in the mornings. My lips are super dry as I expected, so I reapply my burts bees and my ultrabalm from Lush every couple of hours. My scalp gets really itchy every couple of days and I have developed a lot of flakes, but I got some new hydrating shampoo and conditioner and some scalpbalm from Lush and that seems to be doing the trick. My hair seems impervious to oil, sounds gross but I haven't washed my hair in a week and aside from the flakes it looks damn good!

Will update again soon!

Day 2

The medicated topical gel I was prescribed and have been using for the last month is called Biacna. As for facial cleanser and toner, I use cliniques acne line.

I just started on 40mg once daily of Clarus...

I just started on 40mg once daily of Clarus yesterday, from the reviews I've read I'm not looking forward to the initial break out in about two weeks time but I am hoping that in a month or two I'll see an improvement.

My breakouts are more severe around my time of the month, but I have active breakouts through out the month as well. Along with the Accutane (Clarus) I will be continuing to do chemical peels once monthly, I use azaclear daily in the mornings and an antibiotic gel that my derm prescribed me every night.

I will update weekly, with my results.
