I have always hated my nose and been teased about it for as long as I can remember. It had a huuuuge hump and a really bad hanging columella. I saved up for years on a crappy minimum wage job till I finally had enough to go ahead and go through with it. I did research for months on websites like makemeheal and ratemds and it seemed that Dr Menick was a genius and the best dr for rhinoplasty. People fly from across the country to get surgery from him and here I was living down the street from his office! The consultation was good, he wasn't super friendly but he did seem confident, told me I was already attractive and that this would improve my face harmony immensely. I was so excited that I booked with him right away and paid in full for the surgery that day. Over the next couple months leading up to my surgery, I scoured the internet looking for anything bad about him and found nothing. The surgery day was pretty rough for me. I was in so much pain when I woke up that I actually said to my family, "Don't ever let me do this again!" I had no complications. A week later the cast came off and all the girl at the front desk said to me was, "hmm, there's a lot of swelling." And that was it. It looked better than before so that was good enough for me. I had bad swelling for months. My nose looked fat and weird and I started having breathing problems and a constant runny nose, which I still have to this day. Over time swelling went down and I started to notice that my nose was super crooked, in an S shape even though it was straight before. My septum is now severely deviated and it wasn't before either. He took too much cartage off on one side and I have a lot of sensitivity in that area. I also still have the remnants of a hump on one side only which also makes my nose look more crooked and wonky. My tip is all twisted looking, I have extremely uneven nostrils and somehow my nose looks fatter than before. I'm so mad that I only now started finding all the bad reviews of Dr Menick, several years later. I also still have a hanging columella that's uneven and crooked. There is nothing remotely symmetrical about my nose. It's like 2 different people depending on what side you look at me from. I wish I had gone to someone else and went to more drs the first time. I have consulted with Dr Michael Kim in portland an have an open revision and septoplasty scheduled in a month and I can't wait! Click here to read my Revision Rhinoplasty review. Luckily my insurance is covering the septoplasty part so it's not terribly expensive but still thousands of dollars that I shouldn't have to be spending again. I have pics of my current nose posted on my profile if anyone is interested and will be updating on my surgery and photos as I go.
