“CoolSculpting on Abdomen -- Tremendous Bloating After Procedure! - New Hampshire”
Spent: $750 in NH
I'm past two weeks since having a CoolSculpting session done on my stomach. They used the small applicator on me ($750). I am naturally thin: 5'9", 130 pounds... but... I had that stubborn belly pouch. Exercise and portion control did nothing for me, so I was excited to try Zeltiq/CoolSculpting. After it was finished (1 hour) I felt initial cramping for about an hour after the procedure... and a couple times over the following days, but nothing really bad at all. I did not even need to take Advil. Some people have written about numbness, but I never had that either. However, my biggest complaint is that my stomach is so bloated that I now look significantly "Bigger" than when I went in for the procedure...! Not happy about this! I've searched a bunch of bulletin boards and no one seems to give a definite answer on when the bloating will go away. My stomach now sticks out noticably with jeans, dresses and skirts. It is about two times bigger than when I went in for the procedure. Not sure I would recommend this to friends. Maybe I will change my mind after two to four months, when they say you see the best results. Two weeks into it, though... I am not a believer yet. Has anyone else had bloating... and for how long?
Updated on 12 Sep 2011:
Update: I'm now a couple days past the first month since having Zeltiq done... and I still have really tremendous bloating. I really am twice the size I was in my stomach before having it done. I do not have any pain... just major bloating. I doubt I would do this again. It's a lot of money to take a gamble on... but no guts, no glory. Too bad, I was hoping for better results. From everything I've read, they say by a month into it, any bloating should have resolved and the benefits kick in over the next month. I'm thinking that may not be the case with me.

Another RealSelfer (Carrie Anne) was bloated for three weeks, and BMS had it too but I don't know how long hers lasted. It seems like at two weeks you'll be coming up on the end of it soon. Keep us posted, please! :)
Hello_ As everyone is different, I think we all experience something different. When I had mine done I had a fairly significant area. I had swelling, tingling, pains and which honestly, you gotta remember even though this is not under the knife, it is still something significant you are doing to your body, so expect the unexpected. From what I was told, do not use advil. This 'heals" inflamation, which we want to occur. I never used it! I have to say I have noticed a very significant change in my stomach. I had that second "ass" look after having two kids and a c-section, but here I am after two months and I am VERY happy with the results- it has almost diminished and I have full resulst I am toldl in Oct to see full results....Hang in there, your body is getting out the stuff you dont want, course you are going to feel things.....
I'm surprised you're still bloated. You may want to ask about this on the Doctor Q&A Forum. It seems abnormal.
