I have wanted rhinoplasty ever since I can...

I have wanted rhinoplasty ever since I can remember but was always too scared about the thought of being operated on. After doing plenty of research I stumbled across Dr. Shahidi (the best magician who ever lived). He made me feel so at ease and comfortable from my first consultation. He was extremely informative and genuine and not to mention all the rave reviews definitely go in him favor. The team behind him are also as amazing, the girls really look after you and will answer any question or concern you have. I'm so happy I found Dr shahidi and his team. So I'm 13 days post-operation today and I feel so good. Even though I was told that my nose will look piggy and look as if it's not my own nose, it still looks 1000% better than my old wonky nose. And when I look at my nose without paying attention to my face it looks so perfect and doll-like! 2 months pre-op I was that excited that my body went into some sort of excitement/shock mode....I ended up getting a twitch on my eye which lasted for about 1.5 months. It went away before the operation Thank gosh. Day of the operation I had so many nerves and so much anxiety, I don't do well with hospitals, lucky for me I was at North Shore day surgery and the team there were so lovely and accommodating. I met with the anesthesist and also Dr Shahidi before I went into the operating theater. They both put me at ease and called all my nerves. It felt so surreal walking into the surgery room.... climbing up onto the surgery table. I only remember about 2 minutes of being there.... The anesthesist really took care of any nerves, I was knocked out of with the fairies within a matter of minutes. I woke up from surgery in recovery room 1. Couldn't believe it..... I survived surgery. I guess before surgery you think of every possible bad outcome and start to panic..... But I survived and I'm happy to say that I don't regret a think and am so ecstatic that I went through with the surgery.
I wad then moved to recovery room2 where my dad was allowed to come in. I was pretty talkative from what I remember, the nurse had to tell me not to talk too much as it puts pressure on my nose...... (Guess that's a nice way of making me quiet). Dr Shahidi then came in to discuss post op procedure. Dad was really good, he noted everything down and also took the week off to take care of me. It's definitely needed to have someone there for you. Especially to change your drip pad and spray your nose. The day after op day (which was day1) I was feeling bored and my back was sore from sleeping upright. I had zero appetite and My gums were extremely itchy and sore. Other than that I was doing great. No bruising, just a little swelling. Chocolate custard was a god send. Day 2 wow. ..I woke up with swollen eyes... Right eye much worse than the left. Still no appetite and no bruising. Top lip swollen and numb. Living off chocolate custard and baby food as I can't open my mouth and can't chew. Day 3 my checks and jaw were so swollen I resembled a chipmunk.... Swelling in my upper face was subsiding and moving downwards. Gums still sore. Day 4/day 5 I was really tired and so bored from sitting all day and all night. My gums started feeling a bit better and my appetite started to return but doesn't mean I gave up the chocolate custard.
Every day after day 5 I have been feeling better and better. It's now day 13 and I feel great.
Day 7 I had my appointment with Dr shahidi. He took my splints out of my nostrils, stitches out and took my cast off my nose. A little uncomfortable but nothing painful. I had already pre-warned myself about how ugly I would look at first. He handed me a mirror but I was kind of delaying looking at myself. I was scared who I would see looking back at me. After a few minutes I quickly had a glance and a was shocked and not happy. I liked like I had a fake nose stuck to my face. However Dr Shahidi for warm me in my first pre op consultation that the first month is the 'ugly stage'... He wasn't wrong. Now that I'm 2 weeks post I actually feel like I'm looking more normal. My top lip is still numb and unable to move but it's looking less swollen and more settled each day. I can't wait to see what it will look like at the end. I have been wearing my cast as Dr Shahidi asked me to. I have been wearing it pretty much all day everyday as I haven't been going out much. Apart from the weekend. My fiancé and I went looking at venues for engagement party.... Which looking back on wasn't a good idea, my nose was dribbling and bubbling of fluid.....I looked like a child looks when then have a cold.... blowing bubbles out of my nose each time I say something. It felt awkward and gross and embarrassing.
Another thing to mention, the swelling can really make your nose look lopsided/crooked, nostrils uneven which I am experiencing as well. I have been calling the girls at Dr Shahidi office almost everyday with concerns. The girls are great and answer all questions :) honestly I couldn't ask for a better team.
So that's my journey so far. Looking forward to seeing my result in 2 more weeks. ... And continuing to see improvements over the year.
Looking forward to my next appointment to see what the doc has to say about my recovery.
