I wanted a treatment mainly for acne scarring on the sides of my face (both indented and ice picked). I also was looking for just a smoother appearance overall. After trying microdermabrasion and light chemical peels at my dermatologists office, I saw absolutely no results. The esthetician at my dermatologist office recommended that I try a fractional co2 laser. I decided to go for it. I just turned 29 years old and have an olive complexion. I've been really hesitant on trying any laser because I always read they weren't good for darker skin, except for Fraxel, but after numerous appointments with plastic surgeons who all said Fraxel wouldn't do a thing for my scars, I was disappointed. Anyway, I'm glad my esthetician recommended Active FX - finally something that hopefully will work for me.

I had the appointment yesterday afternoon (Wednesday). I was prescribed an anti-anxiety pill to take a half hour before the procedure and hydrocodone to take right before the procedure started. When I arrived I was given numbing cream to put on my face about 45 minutes before the procedure. I could tell it was working right away. I was really scared after coming to this sight and reading reviews on how painful Active FX was. Once she started the laser treatment - it was seriously not painful at all. On a scale of 1 to 10 - I would say on parts of my face it was a 2 and other parts a 4. After the procedure she put a gel substance on my face and was told to put it on every 2-3 hours after that.
Today (Thursday) my skin looks like I have an extremely bad sunburn. There are tiny brown spots, making it look like it will peel soon. I am not in any pain and have not taken any pain medication. I'll keep updating...
