I am African American with very thick skin that is prone to scarring. I am interested in alarplasty but is afraid of the scar down the nostrils. What is the best approach to prevent scarring? Are regular stitches better than dissolvable stitches as far as preventing the scar. What about using hydrogen peroxide to clean the stitches? Some say it goods other don't. What is best to use to clean the stitched to prevent scarring?
I had a rhinoplasty done 7 days ago including alar base reduction so I have two nostril incisions. After getting home and washing the dried blood away, I've noticed the incision on the right side at the base of the nostrils is open, a gap between the two peices of skin and no stitch or anything holding it together. I can see on the left side it looks perfectly stitched and held together, no gaps. I am now so so worried that It will heal like this and leave me with a disfigurement as it is very visible.
I will be having alarplasty done on one of my nostrils (inside the nose and cut at the base). This will be done overseas, and unfortunately I will be flying a day after. My surgeon mentions that stitches need to be removed 5 days later, is it possible to have them removed by another surgeon locally? My surgeon advises against it but I wont have time. Is this possible? Will it affect results?
I had alarplasty 1 month ago. In the first week nostrils looked ok but then they started to change (I mean the left nostril) and it seems to me that left nostril tries to take shape of what it was before. There was unevenness before surgery and it was fixed. And now my left nostril goes upwards a little bit everyday and I also see that the stitch line shifts as well . It's not conspicious in pictures but I clearly see it in mirror. Is it swelling that makes nostril go up?
Hi i'm 5 days post op. on the third day, the stitches are already removed and when i went home to clean it, i noticed that there are 3 or 4 holes from the stitches (1 millimeter in diameter). will this be permanent?? aand. right after i clean it, blood occupies the areas and dry up >_<
I've broken my nasal bone then I've decided to undergo a (second) rhinoplasty. So, besides correcting my crooked nose, I asked the surgeon to reduce the alar base and my tip. I underwent surgery on July 13th, and the surgeon told me he will remove the stitches and the bandages only on July 25th, 13 days after the surgery. I am really concerned, because I've read that the stitches should be removed earlier to minimize scars. What should I do? And there's some dried blood around it. Is it normal?
I went with 2mm reduction on each nostril & explained to my doctor that I dont want clear changes in the nose shape, only the nostrils size reduction. I have taken out the stitches on August 30, the procedure was on 25th. I can't notice any changes from my previous nose shape or nostrils size. I feel frustrated as I've gone through the trouble of recovery and still looks the same. Since it only been afew days since the procedure, how long does it take to see clear changes to the width and nostrils size?
