Increasing volume under the eyes

Dark circles under the eyes are usually hereditary, but can be made worse with allergies and salty diet. It is not possible to make the delicate thin skin under the eyes thicker. Additional weight gain will not increase volume to this area either. Options may include dermal fillers and lasers. Crow’s feet can be improved with Botox.

Correction for eye circles

Theories for your condition mostly focus on genetics, skin type, hyper metabolic state (thyroid), and general volume loss. Correction w/ Radiesse and regular use of skin care containing low strength retinol and hydroquinone are keys to successful therapy in my practice. Dr. G

Dark circles under eyes

Dark circles under the eyes can be due to so many things, and often is untreatable. In many cases it is due to the thinning of the lower lid skin and the visualization of the underlying muscle through that skin.

Lower eyelid surgery

Gaining weight may not improve the appearance of your lower eyelids, especially if you have not seen any results after a 35lb weight gain. Injecting fillers such as hylauronic acid injectables (Restylane and Juvederm) or fat grafting may improve the hollowed appearance of your eyes, but may also cause visible or palpable lumps under the thin skin. Surgery would involve repositioning the midface tissues superiorly to help correct the problem.

Under Eye Lid Hollows

HI, Only after a physical examination and history (no thyroid problems) can we determine the best treatment for you. Most likely Restylane properly injected under your eyelid hollows will correct your problem.  Make sure that you choose and experienced and skilled physician for this delicate and unforgiving area.  Good luck and be well.   Dr. P

Hollowing under the eyes

Your best bet is Juvederm injection in the hollow areas. This area is tricky to fill well so find a very good injector. The soft tissue of the midface can be pulled upwards surgically so this is potentially a long term solution.

Correcting dark circles and hollowing underneath the eyes

Non surgical options to improve the appearance of the lower eyelids include hyaluronic acid injections with products like restylane which can improve the appearance of the dark circles as well as filling in the hollowing just below the area. Other options include surgical correction which can be done with a transconjunctival approach behind the eyelid leaving no visible scar which is a long term solution. I hope this information helps.
