Is the wounds closed or is it a risk of getting infection if i take a shower and gets water and soap in my face 5 days after open rhinoplasty and chin implant (incision under the chin)
Answer: Rhinoplasty Thanks for the question. After a Rhinoplasty surgery you can take a shower after 5-7 days. Then after this 5-7 days you should care to the surgery area in the shower. I wish you all the best.

Answer: Rhinoplasty/ Chin Implant Dear kamilla, Thank you for your question. As far as the rhinoplasty goes, it is very important that you do not get the splint area wet. For the first week, I tell patients it is okay to gently wash their face, avoiding the nose and any incisions, with a wash cloth, or they can use a handheld shower device and wash themselves from the neck down or take a bath. After the first week it is okay to shower but not let the stream directly hit your chin or nose. However, it is best that you follow up with your operating surgeon for their specific recommendations. Hopefully this was helpful and best of luck!

Answer: Nasal dressings and tape should not get wet while recovering from rhinoplasty. Since you're 5 days postoperative, you may still have your nasal dressing intact, and that should remain dry till it's removed by your surgeon. After that, you will be able to wash your face and neck with soap and water. Hope this helps. Dr Joseph

Answer: Can I wash My Nose in the Shower Five Days Post Rhinoplasty? It is always best to clear your surgeons post operative protocol. Generally speaking most patients have a plaster splint on for seven days and once this is removed you can gently let water run over your face and nose in the shower. (Not Hot) Use a gentle soap on your face and leave the incision to your surgeon to clean. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
