Asymmetric Breasts - Can You Get One Breast Implant?

Can you get one implant when you have asymmetrical breasts? would it look normal to have one implant to correct the A cup to match the C cup? Each breast looks normal itself, but one is very much larger that the other one. the smaller one has a nipple and areola that is a good size for that breast, and the same with the larger one.

Breast Asymmetry Correction

The proper answer depends on what exactly your individual  expectations are. It is important to understand that breast asymmetry and nipple-areolar asymmetry are typically almost impossible to fully correct with one surgery alone.  It is hard to make breasts that are uneven in all their characteristics and dimensions perfectly even. Therefore many options are available to you depending on what you seek. You could have a breast implant on one breast only. You could have a... more

Uneven breasts

If you have some sort of mal formation and one breast is significantly different than the other a breast implant could reduce the noticeability of the difference. Perfect symmetry is a myth however it is possible to make you feel more comfortable in your body. Talk with your surgeon and ask about other women who have been in your situation and maybe they can provide you with pictures.

Fixing breast assymetry

Asymmetry in body parts is the norm.  Perfect symmetry is not expected.  However, studies have shown that more symmetry is perceived as more attractive in the human form.  Yes, you can achieve a more attractive breast with a single implant in the smaller breast.  I recommend placing the implant under the muscle. Single breast implant for asymmetry

The simple answer to your question is yes but as you can tell from the other responses, it's not a simple solution and there is still no good way to judge the size of the breasts  before the surgery and what size/volume effect the one implant will have compared to the other breast. The minimum volume increase with a properly fitted implant is a cup size. If the one breast is at least a cup size larger and is otherwise very similar in shape, then augmenting one breast only is a... more

Assymetric breasts- can you get one breast implant?

It is very possible to have one breast implant, but to get accurate results we may have to do surgery on both breast depending on skin laxity, nipple placement, droopiness, etc that can affect the result of a certain size of an implant regardless of breast volume.Every patient is different. The same-sized implant can have a different effect on different patients. To get the best results, you should contact a board certified plastic surgeon and set up a consultation. I can't precisely... more

Asymmetric breasts

While it is not the norm, if there is a large size discrepancy between the two breasts, an implant in one may be teh solution.

Asymmetric breasts - can you get one breast implant

Absolutely this can be done. it depends upon the appearance of your breasts prior to surgery, you may only need an unilateral implant to achieve symmetry. From MIAMI Dr. B

Correction of asymmetric breasts

It is certainly possible to correct asymmetric breasts with a single implant. With proper measurements and by trying different sizers it should be possible to achieve a very symmetrical result.

Management of Prominent Breast Asymmetry

Hi there- In situations like yours (it's more common than you might think... I operate on many young women like yourself), I have found that the best outcomes occur when both breasts are operated on, in order to produce maximum symmetry of size AND shape. To get the most accurate opinion however (which would require an exam), I would encourage you to visit a surgeon certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery for a consultation. Need help finding one you like and can tr more

Breast Implants for Breast Asymmetry

Yes, it is very common to have one breast implant placed to improve symmetry.  The other option is to have breast implants of different sizes placed to help improve symmetry - this is actually more common than just one implant.  By placing the smaller implant in the larger breast and the larger implant in the smaller breast you should be able to achieve a very nice result and significantly improve symmetry.  Good luck.

Breast implants will correct breast asymmetry.

Hi. If your larger breast is not sagging, then putting in the right implant into your smaller breast may be all you need.

Breast asymmetry and correction with implants

Breast asymmetry is difficult surgery. You should expect less asymmetry rather than symmetry as a reasonable goal. You may want to consider a slight reduction of the larger breast in order to avoid a large discrepancy in implant size. Also please be aware that tiime will produce significant changes that will require more surgery at a later date. see video

Need to examine or at least see pictures

Please submit your picture to evaluate the asymmetry. Implant can help to some degree to even out the size ,but not much in evening out the shape.  If your surgeon try to place very different implants in each breast, implants will cause uneven lift .

Yes it is possible

i take care of many patients with breast assymetry.  If you need more volume on one side then we put in an implant.  Just depends on what is needed to achieve symmetry.  Make sure to see a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who perfoms many of these. good luck, Andrew Cohen

Implants help correct volume differences

It is possible to use one implant to correct a volume difference for breast asymmetry.  However, you have to make sure to understand that you will still see a lot of differences between the breasts because of all of the other issues related to appearance.  For example the nipple and areolas will be different sizes as well as height.  Implants are not able to control the outer skin and nipple height.  Only local incisions will adjust skin distance and height. If... more

Unilateral Augmentation

It is certainly appropriate to have a unilateral augmentation to correct your underdevoped breast if you are happy with the volume of your C cup size.  This deformity is sometimes seen in a condition called Poland's Syndrome in which the pectoralis muscle also fails to develop.  You might need some adjustment of your larger breast (mastopexy,eg) but you do not need an implant for that side.

Correcting Breast Asymmetry

Without examining you it's difficult to know what your best option would be, but certainly performing an augmentation on one breast alone in order to create balance with the opposite breast is a reasonable choice.  Just like with any breast augmentation, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon experienced in breast enhancement is an excellent place to start, and he or she can lay out the options for you and help you get the best result possible.
