Hemosiderin Staining Vs. Hyperpigmentation, How Can One Make the Distinction?

Hello, Based on some of the responses that I got from the Drs regarding a previous question, I am now curious to know how one can determine if residual bruising is hyperpigmentation or hemosiderin staining. Furthermore, possible treatment options for either will be appreciated, is hydroquinone (or other bleaching agents) considered a good option?
