Is It Safe to Have a Facelift After Sculptra?

I had a Sculptra injection and am supposed to have 1 more in 6 weeks, the doctor's idea was to make my skin stronger so he can do a threadlift. After doing some research I think this is not for me and I'd like to go back to my original idea of having a traditional facelift - but I am now worried that if I get a facelift when my skin is a bit tighter from the Sculptra treatment it will sag again in 1-2 years once the Sculptra wears off. Can this be a problem after just 1 Sculptra injection?

Threadlift vs Facelift and Sculptra

You are wise to avoid proceeding on the path you almost chose. You can see by reviews on RealSelf what patients though about their threadlifts. We have revised many, many threadlift surgerys from unhappy patients into nicely done facelifts, and the patients never look back. The Sculptra shouldn't interfere with your facelift.  However you have missed a bit of a chance to give your future experienced facelift surgeon a totally accurate view of your appearance without... more

Facelift after Sculptra

Yes, you can a Face Lift anytrime after Sculptra injections.  Sculptra contains crystals that encourage, your body, to make collagen within the skin to fill up dents and indentations.  Not a fan of thread lifts however which are not Face Lifts IMHO.

Is It Safe to Have a Facelift After Sculptra?

Dear eimel, The Sculptra is very unlikely to interfere with a facelift. You may wish to consider additional volume enhancement  (eg. more Sculptra, or fat grafting) along with the facelift. Good luck with your facial rejuvenation. Warmest wishes, Larry Fan, MD

Facelift after sculptra

I do not believe that you will compromise your facelift result if you have had sculptra.  It stimulates collagen growth and this should not "wear off".  It is also not uncommon to do additional sculptra treatments after a facelift if it is needed.  Donald R Nunn MD Plastic  Surgeon.

Sculptra and Facelift

Sculptra is a stimulatory filler.  It is best used as a series of treatments to restore volume to the face that has been lost over the years.  If you have significant skin laxity with deeper folds and marionette lines, a traditional Facelift may be your best bet to re suspend these tissues.  1 Sculptra treatment should not be an impediment to the Facelift and in fact Sculptra can be used  in conjunction with the Facelift to provide additional volume if necessary. more

Face lift after Sculptra.

Face lift after Sculptra is fine. It should not make a significant difference in the final result. Choose an experienced facelift surgeon for the best results.

A well qualified facelift surgeon will have minimal issues with the sculptra.

It is unlikely that there is that much sculptra in the face.  The facelift is far more powerful than the sculptra effects.  I recommend that you focus on finding the right facelift surgeon and discuss the issue with them.  I do not believe the sculptra treatment will prove to be an impediment to having a facelift.  I completely agree that the suture lifts are not a successful approach to rejuvenating the face.

Facelift After Sculptra

Sculptra injections can induce more scarring in the face, however if they are done in the first 6-8 weeks there is not as much scarring as when they are done long term. The surgeon needs to be aware of this and can treat it appropriately. Often, it mimics a secondary facelift in the dissection planes.

Face lift after Sculptra

Face lifts and volumizing procedures such as fat grafting or sculptra work together instead of getting in the way of each other. It would be fine to do a lift after sculptra.

Face Lift

See a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon for an assessment. We do not do thread lifts as they do not seem to have any long term benefit, and suture reactions can be an issue. Thus, the facelift sounds like a good idea, and a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon can assess if Sculptura is an issue now or will be in the future. Perhaps you will need Sculptura in the future.

Facelift after Sculptra

First, I agree with your decision to skip on the threadlift, and go with a proven surgical procedure. Second, a single injection of Sculptra is not going to significantly fill out your cheeks and interfere with your long term facelift results.

Sculptra is safe before facelift, necklift or midface surgery.

As a trainer for Sculptra and as a Facial Plastic Surgeon, I have performed facelifts on patients that I have previously treated with Sculptra with good results. As a stimulatory filler, Sculptra increases new collagen formation and works with rather than against rejuvenation surgery. I have injected Sculptra as a liquid facelift for people unsure whether they were ready to proceed with a facelift. I have also injected Sculptra to augment those areas not corrected with facelift surgery... more

Facelift after Sculptra

I agree with the posts here - we do perform many facelifts before, after, and at the same time as sculptra injections with great results. Threadlifts may work, they tend not to last as long so a lift is usually a better choice. Best of luck!

Facelift After Sculptra

Avoiding the thread-lift was an intelligent choice in avoiding a complete waste of money. There is absolutely no contraindication to having a Facelift after Sculptra.

It is safe to have a facelift after Sculptra

It is safe to have a facelift after Sculptra.  Sculptra is a quite successful filling agent that provides fullness to the face and lasts for a prolonged period of time.  Some feel two years and some researchers and physicians feel that it lasts even longer.  It is actually difficult to absolutely state the time that an individual Sculptra might dissipate, if at all.  It does not simply go away completely at two years.  The best time to choose to do a facelift... more

Facelift surgery is safe following Sculptra treatment

Facelift surgery is safe following Sculptra treatment. In fact, volume replacement with fat or Sculptra goes hand in hand, in many cases, with lifting of the face and neck tissues. Find an experienced Facial Plastic Surgeon for full evaluation but what you're proposing is safe and a common question. Stephen Weber, M.D. Lone Tree Facial Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center

Face lift after Sculptra is fine.

Hi. This will not cause any problems.  Try to find an experienced face lift surgeon, and tell him or her that you had Sculptra injections.  And avoid thread lift.

Facelift After Sculptra Injections

Having performed facelift on many patients after fillers (including Sculptra, Radiesse, Hyaluronic acids etc), I did not find this to be a problem. So, I think it is safe to go ahead with a facelift and it should not negatively affect your facelift outcome.

Facelift after Sculptra

As mentioned by others, it should be safe to proceed with a face-neck lift after Sculptra. The Sculptra should help add volume to your face and improve your skin thickness, while the face-neck lift will improve the sagging skin and muscles. You may see some loss of volume 12 to 18 months after the Sculptra treatments have finished, but you can always be re-treated with Sculptra or another volumizer.

Not only is it safe, but we regularyly use Sculptra as a portion of our lifts

In lean narrow faces, we will place Sculptra in the central facial tissues before we start the surgery. It has several advantages over fat grafting. Does not require the additional surgery and time to harvest and manipulate the fat Does not result in the overfilled looking face of the fat grafted patient the effect comes on slowly as the swelling from the surgery decreases which is very pleasing to the patient with a lean face We use a lot of Sculptra so we have... more

Thread Lift and Sculptra

You need not be concerned that having had one Sculptra injection that your facelift will last a shorter period of time. A professionally done facelift will last you ten to fifteen years. I too have removed many "threads" from inside the face of patients who were sorry to have wasted their resources on thread lifts. If it seems too good to be true.....
