Is a mammogram necessary before breast augmentation procedure?

Hi, Thank you for your question. In my practice we require our patients to have a mammogram done prior to their procedure when they are 35 years old and older. However, consult with your physician prior to your surgery to see what they require. Hope this helpsDr. Dillon 

Every plastic surgeon will have different requirements for pre-operative mammograms.  We currently do not require a mammogram for women under the age of 40 with no family history of breast cancer.The general recommendations for mammograms are to begin at age 50 if you have no family history of breast cancer. If you are planning an augmentation, lift, or reduction the general rule is to obtain a mammogram beginning at age 40.
