Question

I'm a 22-year-old male with very weak cheekbones and an unmasculine face. I'm looking into cheek augmentation that create the chiseled cheekbones that male models have. What would I need to create this look? Thanks.

While cheek implants are used to augment the maxilla, they are inserted in the midportion of the cheek and not out laterally by the sideburn area.  If the cheek implants are placed too laterally, they give a very unnatural appearance.  We also do not recommend buccal fat pad removal since this accentuates the aging process since people lose facial fat as they age.

Thank you for your question and photos. Based on the images, it appears cheek implants might be a good choice for you to create more fullness and definition in the midface. It is also possible you would benefit from buccal fat pad removal, which is a surgical procedure that removes the small pocket of fat just below the cheek. To strengthen the jawline, you might consider a mandibular implant that would extend from one side of the jaw to the other. I customize these implants to the precise proportions of each patient to produce the most natural result. The use of natural and slowly biodegradable hyaluronic acid and calcium-based injectable volumizers allows for making alterations going forward as the face changes with age due to bone remodeling and fat loss and displacement. Only an experienced, board certified injector with an aesthetic eye and extensive experience in treating male patients should be sought. Be sure to insist upon seeing before and after photos of male faces.
