I have very large breasts. I'm hoping to get Breast reduction soon but I also have psoriasis.

Would that be a factor considered when undergoing surgery? Would there be any complications to the surgery that are known to be associated with psoriasis? Thank you.

Breast Reduction for Patients with Psoriasis?

Thank you for the question. It would be best for you to be seen by your dermatologist to make sure the psoriasis is as well controlled as possible prior to the breast reduction procedure. Otherwise the risk/benefit ratio is in your favor. Best wishes.

Breast reduction in patients with psoriasis

Today there are many excellent techniques for breast reduction surgery. If you're psoriasis is under control, it may be possible to perform a breast reduction between active episodes. Your best bet is to work with a board-certified plastic surgeon who has a great deal of experience in breast reduction surgery and skin conditions. They will determine the severity of your psoriasis and also see if they can place incisions or design the surgery so as not to aggravate your condition. more

Breast reduction

Hi! 1) Women with very large breasts are usually very happy after breast reduction. It is an easy operation to recover from. 2) Psoriasis is not a contraindication. You can go ahead. 3) Technique is important. The breasts have to be shaped INTERNALLY, without pulling on the skin, in order to get good long term shape.

Breast Reduction with Psoriasis

I am unaware of any contraindication for breast reduction with psoriasis.  If the process involves breast or adjacent skin, it could possibly cause some problems with healing.  This is a matter you should discuss with both your plastic surgeon and dermatologist.  Good Luck!
