I'm having a Breast Lift with silicone gel Breast implants and am curious about it. They say gummy bear implants don't leak when punctured, but in your body where it is 98.6 degrees can the silicone break down and melt?

Silicone implants don't melt in the body

You are correct, the highly cohesive or "gummy bear" implants which are shape and form stable have the consistency of a gummy bear and there is no liquid to potentially leak if the device is punctured. Silicone implants, whether the highly cohesive "gummy bear" or the traditional gel devices do not "melt" or breakdown at body temperature.

Silicone implants won't melt in your body.

The silicone implants are stable at body temperature. The newer cohesive gel, (gummy bear), implants are designed not to leak out of the implant even if the implant is torn, (highly unlikely in most circumstances).  Even the older implants are made of gel and not liquid.  Your implants won't turn into liquid while in your body.

Can Silicone from Breast Implants melt inside the body?

NEVER happened. The melting point of  Silicone is 932°F I think if your body ever reaches such temperatures, you will have other things to worry about than your breast implants. So don't worry about it. Good Luck. Peter A Aldea, MD, FACS

Silicone breast implants

 There is no  chance that the silicone gel breast implants implanted into a breast pocket will dissolve.  The gummy bear implants  are cohesive and will not melt either.

Silicone gel implants will not melt in the body

You should have absolutely no concerns that silicone gel will melt in your body.  All implants can eventually crack and what is inside can leak out but they will not melt.

Neither the silicone in regular implants nor gummy bear implants can "melt" and leak in the body. All of the modern implants are quite "cohesive" and stay together.
