Possible residual bruising and swelling 1 week after rhinoplasty

William Portuese, MD answers: One week recovery enough after nose job?

Is one week enough time to take off from work after a Rhinoplasty? I am a teacher, and I'm wondering if winter break would be a good time?

One week is an acceptable period of time to take off from work after a rhinoplasty, as long as your job is not physically demanding (heavy lifting, exercising, raising heart rate, blood pressure, etc…). There still may be some residual bruising and swelling underneath the eyes at seven to ten days after the rhinoplasty, but this can be covered with makeup.

After one week, it would be fine to be back teaching though you will still have some swelling and might have some bruising especially if the bones need to be fractured to narrow the upper third.  Don't exercise for 2-3 weeks though.
