Premature judgement....

Andrew J.L. Gear, MD answers: Lipo for male breast reduction - How long until results are noticeable?

I am a 37-year-old male that had Smart Lipo with tumescent liposuction done on my abdomen and breasts 23 days ago. I immediately have noticed a difference in my abdomen but I am worried that my breasts are not going to be flat enough. Is it still too early for me to judge my results? Does it take the breast longer to go down than the immediate results I see in my stomach? My Doctor told me that I did not have much granular breast tissue.

Following liposuction, whether it be of the traditional variant, ultrasound-based, power-assisted, or laser-assisted, there will be swelling.  How long that swelling lasts is a byproduct of the area suctioned, how much was suctioned, your own body's response, your activity level following the procedure, how fastidious you are in wearing the compression garments, etc.  All that being said, the breast in particular stays swollen longer (I just performed exact same case using Smartlipo a week ago with a similar post-operative finding), do what you are experiencing is not unusual.  It often takes a few months for swelling to completely subside.  Furthermore, the laser's effect on skin contraction, which is important if you had loose or excess skin, takes between 6 to 12 months to manifest.  So....

the bottom line is be patient and do no worry at this junture.  Time will tell...
