Liposuction alone is almost never enough to correct gynecomastia.

George J. Beraka, MD answers: Lipo for male breast reduction - How long until results are noticeable?

I am a 37-year-old male that had Smart Lipo with tumescent liposuction done on my abdomen and breasts 23 days ago. I immediately have noticed a difference in my abdomen but I am worried that my breasts are not going to be flat enough. Is it still too early for me to judge my results? Does it take the breast longer to go down than the immediate results I see in my stomach? My Doctor told me that I did not have much granular breast tissue.

To ms8172,

Hi.   I have learned the hard way, after doing many male breast reductions, that in most patients, you need to do both liposuction AND cutting out some breast tissue under the nipple (through a tiny incision in the nipple).

Of course you still have swelling at 23 days, and you probably will look better in another 2or 3 months.  But I am afraid that I predict you wil need a revision to remove the residual tissue.  If you do, this can be done in 4 months.  The final result after a revision is usually very good.
