Breast lift cost

Otto Joseph Placik, MD answers: How much does a breast lift cost?

I'm not talking about adding or taking away anything from my breasts..I just want a lift.  Can someone tell me what is the average price for a breast lift?

The proper breast lift for you is a complex decision process determined based on your desires, anatomy, practicality, availablility, picture review, weight loss, changes during pregnancy & nursing, etc. Sometimes a brest lift is best achieved with an implant (I understand this is not your desire)othertimes it may require actual lifting of the nipple/gland and sometimes a combination is best. This is usually determined at the time of the initial consultation but may need to be adjusted intra-operatively.

The choice of incisions vary tremendously and depend on the extent of the drooping (called ptosis). Incisions may be limited to or around the areola (the pigmented part of the nipple/areola complex), may extend straight down from the nipple, and/or may require and incision under the breast as well. If implants are required, I generally prefer smooth implants placed under the muscle using an incision under the breast.

Although I understand your desire to obtain the price; I can't give you a fixed price for several reasons. Prices depend on:

  • Extent of the procedure
  • Type of implant required, if necessary (range anywhere from $400 up to $2000)
  • Do you want it done in a hospital, office surgical suite, or surgicenter and the prices vary accordingly with the last being the most affordable.
  • Do you want a nurse, a surgeon, or a Board Certified Anesthesiologist to perform anesthesia?

Depending on these factors breast lift can range anywhere from $4000 up to $10,000. Think about it and make the right choice. For your information, our typical cost currently averages about $5500-7000 for a breast lift procedure and up to $10,000 for a combined (implant) procedure (depending on the extent of the lift). These fees include surgeon's fees, a certified anesthesiologist, accredited outpatient surgicenter, saline filled smooth round implants, and initial garments and dressings, and post-operative visits. Many other options are available and prices do vary accordingly.

A: Average Breast Lift costs about $6000

The average cost for a Breast Lift alone is approximately $6000.  This includes the anesthesia and facility.  The range you will find is from $4500 to well over $10,000 based upon geography.  The cost should not be your only factor to decide upon your surgeon.  Make sure you start with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.  Ask to see pictures of pre and post op breast lifts.  Ask about complications and scars, so you know what to expect.  See a couple of doctors in your area.  We never discourage 2nd opinions.  We know that after a patient is seen in my office, they almost always return to us for surgery.  We want to make sure they are comfortable with their decision.  Our quality speaks for itself and our wonderfully helpful staff makes the whole process that much easier.

Good Luck with your search.

A: Breast lift costs vary by location

Breast lift has become more popular over the past years especially with the improvement in minimal and short scar techniques. The cost has  improved largely due to the trend toward office based accredited surgical facilities. The total cost in the midwest is around $6000-$8000 if the procedure is performed without a breast implant. Again this cost should include the surgeon, anesthesia, and the facility.

Cost is only part of the decision in choosing a surgeon. Be sure you are comfortable with your surgeon's approach and interest in you as an individual. It is best to consult with a surgeon cetified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Second, safety is an important consideration. Your procedure should be completed in an accredited facility which is your assurance that the highest safety standards are maintained, and the center is regularly inspected and results reviewed.

Best of luck,
