Dysport pricing will settle after a while -- and like Botox, geographic area, competition and physician expertise will factor in. Introductory offers by the company can make Dysport pricing very attractive during the launch phase.
Pricing is one factor in making any purchase decision, but please don't let that be your only decision basis. It takes training and knowledge to get the right results and safe results with either Dysport or Botox (as well as the forthcoming newer products in the pipeline).
To provide the best source for my own patients, I elected to take the company's professional training when they invited me to become a Dysport trainer myself. That way I know I've been mentored by the the best - the FDA clinical study physicians themselves and the scientists associated with the manufacturer.
However, there are other doctors who do not go to these lengths who will no doubt be able to provide great results. Just be aware of who is on the other side of the syringe.
Dysport unit pricing is not comparable to Botox as the unit requirements are very different. A single unit of Dysport is not equivalent to a single unit of Botox.
An average conversion ratio is 2 to 2.5 units of Dysport to 1 unit of Botox.
Pricing will likely stabilize to the point they are both similarly priced and hopefully the competition between the companies will lower the price for everyone.
