Full breasts after reduction depends

Manish H. Shah, MD answers: After breast reduction will my breasts remain full?

I am due to get a breast reduction in a short while, I am just waiting for my insurance company's approval, which my doctor said will not be a problem due to the size of my breasts.

My concern is that right now my breasts are very full and I love that part about them... Is there a way that they can be reduced to a smaller size and remain full?

Younger breasts with more dense breast tissue will stay fuller after breast reduction. The more mature breast with more fatty tissue in it will tend to be a little more flat after surgery.  Also, if you have had children and breast fed, the risk of loose skin goes up. Even if you are on the higher risk side of the equation, fullness can be returned with the use of a small implant after lifting the breast if it becomes necessary in the future.  This, however, is a far from common approach.

You want a look that is natural and that fits your body.  It is important to discuss both your functional and cosmetic goals during your consultation.  If you are getting your health insurance to pay for your breast reduction, then there will be a minimum amount of tissue that has to be removed and this could alter how your breast is optimally shaped.  Ask lots of questions at your consultation.

Good luck.
