Austin doctor introduces DOT therapy laser resurfacing
Dermal Optical Thermolysis (or DOT therapy, another form of laser resurfacing) arrived in Austin this summer and Dr. Thomas Martens says his medical spa patients have noticed a "remarkable difference."
Texas Cable News ran a health feature story on the treatment, which is slowly becoming known nationwide.
DOT therapy is performed with a laser called the SmartXide C02 Laser. According to their website, DOT therapy "achieves outstanding results in a single treatment" and is "ideal for the treatment of dyschromia, skin laxity and texture, wrinkles, dermal lesions, photo-aging, acne scarring and scar reduction."
At Dr. Martens' Austin medical spa, patient Michelle Hunter chose DOT therapy because she has "a lot of sun damage and menopause." Dr. Martens explains that the procedure takes about an hour, the immediate after effects feel similar to a sunburn, before a week passes the skin will peel, taking most of the sun damage and discoloration with it. The body then responds naturally with increased collagen growth and the skin texture improves, improving your appearance.
