Is a free breast implant giveaway in Las Vegas any different than a free surgery giveaway at an open house with wine and a string quartet?

While most plastic surgeons rely on referrals, luxury magazines, and expensive public relations campaigns, the Las Vegas market seems to require a slightly different approach.

The average age of a breast implant patient is in their early- to mid-twenties, an age where $4000-$8000 of disposable income is hard to come by, and with a tough economy it's harder to use credit to buy breast implants.

I think it is very important for the public to realize that board-certified plastic surgeons do not take part in "free boobs" giveaway contests. If a plastic surgeon participates they violate the Code of Ethics of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The great majority of the time physicians participating in these contests are NOT plastic surgeons. It is surgery after all and there is no opportunity for a proper doctor-patient relationship to be developed.
