Indianapolis Plastic Surgeon Rethinks His Opinion Of ArteFill
Real Beauty News on Sep 16, 2008

Indiana CBS News affiliate recently interviewed Indianapolis facial plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Hamilton, who had some interesting comments about Artefill. A year ago, Hamilton was skeptical of the product and recommended the usual, more temporary hyaluronic acid fillers like Juvederm.

Now after more research has been done, he has started administering Artefill to his patients. Artefill consists of bovine collagen and small plastic microspheres, which according to Dr. Hamilton, had a noticeable problem with irregular micro-spheres and loose particles.

According to the CBS piece, that problem has been addressed and the new American version is more uniform, contains no particles and therefore leaves very little chance of a bad reaction for the patient.

Artefill is a known to be a longer lasting dermal filler, with effects lasting over 5 years in some cases. According to this Indiana surgeon, the safety profile is comparable to other dermal fillers and the positive effects are "long term if not permanent."
