Multiple Fraxel Repair Sessions for Better Results?

I have just completed my 2nd session of Fraxel Repair. Both were done at 70mj and 60%. Have any of you done multiple sessions of Fraxel Repair and saw better results from the 2nd procedure? I'm having Fraxel done acne scars and wrinkles.

A: Repeating Fraxel Repair treatments will increase results

Acne scars respond to repetitive heating of the dermis with the Fraxel laser. I use both Fraxel restore and Fraxel repair lasers in treating acne scars and find the results are comparable as long as multiple treatments are performed. On average 4 to 5 Fraxel restore and 2 Fraxel repair treatments. The repair will give you better results with deeper lines but is equivalent to the restore for acne scars. The more treatments you have the more you will see. Treatment interval for the Fraxel restore is 1 month and for the repair 3 months.

Good luck!

Proactiv and Fraxel Restore Before Fraxel Repair

How long after a Fraxel Restore treatment should I wait to get Fraxel Repair? Should I wait four to six weeks or longer? Also, is it ok to use Proactiv leading up to the repair and how long should I wait before resuming it?

A: Fraxel re:pair and cosmeceutical use

I often combine fraxel re:store and fraxel re:pair treatments. My patients may have fraxel restore and repair on the same day ie. repair for eyes and restore the rest of the face or stage things, with a series of restore treatments followed by a repair. The repair treatment can be performed once there is no residual swelling from the restore, usually within a few days. I tell my patients to avoid use cosmeceutical skin care products 48 hours prior and 48 hours post fraxel restore and at least 14 days post fraxel repair. Good luck!

Sensitive Skin Risk Adverse Fraxel Repair Effects?

Fifteen years ago, I had used Accutane for acne and had a TCA peel for acne scars. The TCA peel was very painful me but I had very nice results. However, I have always had very sensitive skin since then. I can't even use the weakest Retin-A/Renova cream and I have Rosacea too. I am scheduled for Fraxel Repair in 2 weeks and after seeing some negative posts, I'm wondering if I am not a good candidate. My doctor said this will help my Rosacea, too.

A: Fraxel re:pair and rosacea flare up

Most rosacea sufferers have more sensitive skin. This can become aggrevated by peels, microdermabrasion and many forms of laser therapy. Even if you have a flare up with your rosacea post Fraxel, it will be temporary and easily manageable with other treatments such as photo facials and IPL treatments. In my practice, I offer both Fraxel re:pair and Fraxel re:store as each patient has their unique needs. You may want to try a fraxel restore treatment first to see how you respond to a less intensive laser treatment. A series of fraxel re:store treatments can come pretty close to the results with one re:pair with less irritation of rosacea. Goodluck
