Always so happy with my results

Dr. R. and his whole office has been so great. I’ve never felt strongly enough about cosmetic treatments, one way or the other - to even bother with a review. I could never decide if injections were worth it for me because the results were always iffy. And now I’m spoiled! I can’t even pinpoint why, but he has been able to make such a difference in the way I see myself…I hate to think of havi...

Very happy - the most natural/aesthetically pleasing results

I feel so lucky to have someone as skilled, talented, and artistic as Stephanie. She recommends and suggests the most conservative options that lead to the most natural/aesthetically pleasing results. I am very happy with my results and would highly recommend Laser & Cosmetic Surgery Specialist.

Q: Thermal event with tattoos
Answered by Dr. RubinsteinMarch 4, 2024

A: Hi. You are correct, tattoos in the CoolSculpting treatment area can cause thermal events. This is thought to be due to the possibility of lead in the tattoo, more commonly with colored ink. Unfortunately, if it has happened in the past, it may likely occur again. Because of this known possibility we typically begin treatment on the tattooed area first. This way, if one side of the body cannot be treated, you will not be left imbalanced. Hopefully this helps clarify a little more.

Q: Timing between CoolSculpting cycles?
Answered by Dr. RubinsteinFebruary 1, 2024

A: Most patients will require two treatments to achieve their desired result. It is recommended to re-treat at 6 weeks instead of waiting. At 3 months following treatment you can expect to see your final result.

Q: 53 & re-entering the workforce, would mini-facelift or fillers help lines, neck, & general facial drooping?
Answered by Dr. RubinsteinJanuary 29, 2024

A: Thank you for submitting your photos. Your photo from a few years back that you shared shows that you have lost facial volume and skin tone so I recommend both be addressed. 1. Surgical options: You can restore lost volume and lift loose skin thru a deep plane face lift. A vertical deep plane facelift repositions all the fallen structures. A mini facelift will not accomplish your goals. The only issue is that a deep plane facelift will exceed your budget. 2. Non surgical options: If you have to choose between a deep plane facelift and fillers, as I do not think that a mini facelift would look natural I would recommend restoring lost volume with a biostimulant like Sculptra or hyperdillute Radiesse. Skin tightening with fractionated RF or Ultherapy. This will give you natural results and reverse the clock about 5 years. You can always elect to have surgery down the road. Good luck

Q: How to improve gummy smile and thin lips? (Photo)
Answered by Dr. RubinsteinJanuary 22, 2024

A: Botox can be used to temporarily relax the muscles responsible for gummy smile and curling the upper lip under when smiling. Two small injections, one on each side of the nose, will relax the LLSAN muscle which elevates the upper lip and will result in less gum show. A lip flip can also be done in combination with gummy smile. Using a small amount of Botox in the upper lip will relax the orbicularis oris muscle and prevent the upper lip from tucking under, creating the appearance of more red lip show when smiling.

Q: SMAS impact by heat energy procedures - should I avoid this if I want a Facelift later on?
Answered by Dr. RubinsteinMarch 3, 2022

A: Having non surgical skin tightening procedures will not affect the result of your facelift but it can potentially reduce the blood supply to the skin and therefore increase the risk of skin flap necrosis post op. It is for this reason that I like to see my deep plane facelift patients the day after surgery. If I see any signs of possible reduced blood supply I won't hesitate to send my patients in rare instances for a hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Usually just 1 or 2 treatments are needed.
