Despite the media maelstrom he's faced after the death of Michael Jackson, it's good to see Beverly Hills dermatologist and RealSelf member Dr. Arnold Klein is back to what he does: look after patients with skin care needs.
Today, for instance, Dr. Klein responds to a community member unhappy with their lip shape. "my top lip gets lost and the shape of my top lip when I smile looks like the McDonald arch. I hate it."

A recent New York Times article suggests that the use of injectable fillers in non FDA-approved procedures could be a major reason for reported complications.
Chicago plastic surgeon Dr. Julius Few believes another possible reason could be "ancillary medical personnel and doctors who lack expertise in cosmetic treatments."
Speculation about filler safety has been a hot topic of discussion since the FDA panel on dermal fillers convened last month. Off-label uses for dermal fillers like Juvéderm or Restylane, such as injections under the eye or in the hands, might be more prone to complications.
Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr. Fabian Worthing discussed with the Houston Chronicle his new technique for "lip suspension" and says "it's not something terribly mainstream." Chances are, your plastic surgeon hasn't performed too many of them, but this procedure that boosts the upper lip might be gaining popularity. When patients complain about a flattening, saggy upper lip, and fillers like Juvederm or Restylane can't help, this procedure seems to do the trick.
At a medical spa in San Antonio, and a plastic surgeon's office in Louisiana, lip augmentation procedures seem to be going the way of breast implants as women seek more long-term solutions for sexier lips.
Seen Sally? How the heck can you miss her? For some reason, as I amble through the grocery store aisles, I have this homing pigeon thing that kicks in and leads me to the beauty section. And I continue to stand in awe in front of the Sally Hansen shelves. Sally's on a mission these days--new products, mucho advertising pages--you really can't miss her unless you've been under a rock.

If you have a man around you right now, would you ask him a question? Ask him this:
Do you think you would ever have cosmetic surgery?
I asked this question of my husband, and he gave me one of "those looks" - you know the one. While my guy (and maybe yours?) thinks that cosmetic plastic surgery is strictly for women, more and more guys are choosing to have a little work done.
Miami plastic surgeon Michael Salzhauer is everywhere, it seems. He’s the author of My Beautiful Mommy, the book about why mommy looks different and can’t walk designed for kids to understand what’s happening.
This week Dr. Salzhauer has turned up as the “expert” in Star Magazine to provide his medical opinion on 29-year-old Nikki Cox’s bad lip job. Nikki Cox is the wife of comic Jay Mohr, and the former star of Las Vegas.
Since reading the blog post about collagen lip plumper Lip fusion, I've heard from two friends that they don't work as advertised. Another girl friend swears it has given her a poutier look.
Beauty.com is [update: this promotion is over] giving you the opportunity to try the City collagen lip plumping treatment for free, provided you buy something on beauty.com that's over $25.
I haven't heard of this lip product prior to this promotion, but City promises to:
By using:
LipFusion lip plumping advertises its ability to deliver collagen in micro form to penetrate your lips and plump them painlessly.
This got me wondering, does LipFusion replace the proven plumping by injections like restylane, or are we talking super gradual, barely noticeable change to your lips?
