How Much Does AcceleDent Cost?

The average cost of AcceleDent is $895, according to 12 reviews from RealSelf members, but the price can range from $500 to as much as $2,000

This is an elective treatment option, so orthodontic insurance plans don’t cover it.

Here, we break down the reasons why the price can vary and whether actual patients say this orthodontic technology is worth the money.

Is AcceleDent worth the money?

AcceleDent has an 83% Worth It Rating on RealSelf. While that’s based on only about two dozen recent reviews, a solid majority of those patients think it was worth the extra investment.

According to the manufacturer, the device can reduce orthodontic treatment time by up to 50%, so patients have fewer orthodontic visits and get to enjoy their results much faster.

One RealSelf member who paid $800 said it was “worth every penny,” both to be done with Invisalign in six months (instead of a year) and because it “gently massages your teeth which makes the initial pain/discomfort of wearing a new tray a lot more tolerable.”

Why do AcceleDent costs vary?

Here’s why you might pay more or less than the average price of AcceleDent.

1. Which model you choose

There are three generations of AcceleDent: the Classic, Aura, and newer Optima devices. The Classic is no longer available, so you’ll likely be given a choice between the Aura and the Optima.

Both work in the same way, but AcceleDent Optima is more lightweight. It also connects to an app that sends you reminders and tips to help keep you on track. As you’d expect, AcceleDent Optima costs more than the Aura—usually by a few hundred dollars.

Ask your dentist or orthodontist for an all-in cost quote that includes:

  • The device
  • A charger
  • A case
  • Access to the app (for AcceleDent Optima only)

2. Your provider’s buying power and pricing model

AcceleDent is an FDA-approved medical device that’s only available by prescription, from your orthodontist or dentist. Providers set their own prices for the devices, based in part on how much they have to pay for them.

If your provider has enough patient demand to buy AcceleDent devices in bulk, they may be able to offer it at a lower price than those who have to place a special order.

If you know you’re interested in adding this device to your orthodontic treatment and you’re looking for ways to save, consider choosing a qualified provider who has a large, busy practice and actively advertises the benefits of AcceleDent.

3. Their practice location

You'll probably pay a premium for this device if your dentist or orthodontist practices in an area where the cost of living is high. Higher margins on up-sells like this can help a provider offset some of their practice’s overhead costs, like rent.

Practices in areas with more reasonable rents usually don’t have to charge as much.

Can you finance AcceleDent?

Yes, people with good credit should be eligible for financing. If cost is a significant concern, ask your dentist or orthodontist about whether they offer payment plans or accept third-party financing options like CareCredit.
