Dr. Jonathan Pontell, Facial Plastic Surgeon, Philly Mainline - Wayne, PA

I have recently had the profound experience of being a patient of Dr. Jonathan Pontell from Wayne, Pa on the Philly mainline. Dr. Pontell is a (double) board certified aesthetic plastic surgeon with 20+ years of experience. He specializes in facial cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

I found Dr. Pontell to be prompt, courteous, professional and businesslike, with a gentle approach and demeanor and outstanding fine motor skills. He has a keen aesthetic eye and attention to detail.....a true surgical artist. He goes the extra mile for his patients; my pre-op EKG showed a potential problem and he promptly contacted my general practitioner to verify and discuss the issue.

Dr. P's office facility is beautiful and clean with plenty of convenient parking available. His office manager is efficient and detail oriented. There are no before/after photos available in the office waiting area, and only a dozen or so provided during consultations. More photos/visual examples would be helpful for prospective patients during their consultations, but I understand the issue of privacy. Computer imaging was not available during my consults, but may have been offered for others. My impression was that Dr. P is not a technically oriented person, but rather an artist by nature. I am so glad of that.....I would much prefer that an artist be sculpting my face as opposed to a computer geek wielding the scalpel!

Adherence to sterile protocols, preventative measures and respect for tissue was evident. I had zero complications, minimal bruising and only mild to moderate swelling after having multiple procedures over several months. That is not to say my recovery did not involve some pain, discomfort and a ton of patience, but likely would have been more of a challenge if not for Doc's surgical expertise. He was patient and respectful of my comfort level and choice to have multiple surgeries spaced over time versus all done simultaneously. I never felt pressure to have more procedures than necessary. Concern for patients well being is evident. Dr. P performs all procedures and follow ups (including suture and staple removals) himself. While there were more post op follow up appointments than initially represented, patients are given the option to decline or delay the scheduling of those appointments.

Information concerning surgery details and recovery expectations is fairly limited. Printed materials with basic pre and post op instructions are provided. Questions are answered with minimal elaboration. Anticipate being an equal partner in your care. Doing research on your own (realself.com) is a necessity to being a well informed patient and ensuring a good recovery and successful outcome. I would choose Dr. Pontell to be my facial cosmetic surgeon again......I am delighted with my (fabulously) successful outcome! Thank you Dr. Pontell!
