How it works
  • Our highly-trained Review Moderation team evaluates all reviews before they're published to ensure they're written by people like you and not a member of a doctor's office.
  • This multi-step process takes up to 24 hours from review submission to publication.
  • Doctors can't pay to have reviews removed or hidden.
  • Reviews are only removed at the reviewer's request or if they violate our Terms of Service.

Not All Heros Wear Capes, Some Wear Scrubs!

I am two weeks post surgery. I took two full years during covid to research research research and asked physicians I knew too for recommendations. Meet with Dr. K and knew he was "the one", but also did a secondary consult with someone else. By now you've read the reviews on various platforms about Dr. K's kind, patient bedside manner, his unbelievable skill surgical skill, the absolute no to selling a procedure from the staff, the amount of time he'll spend with you. It's all true and it isn't hype. But my review is somewhat different. I'm not a young gal anymore, so I thought I should stay at a $$$$ post surgery retreat for 4 nights after staying in the surgical center overnight. There will be an ugly but truthful review of the post surgery retreat later. From the get go there were communication problems. I was in excruciating pain, I won't deny it. Dr K's RX for the opioid -as written- as 2 pills every 4 -6 hours. Instead, the nurses unillaterally gave me dosages of 1 pill every 6-7 hours, inspite of my pain. It was completely wrong. The retreat staff discussed, with me in pain, Dr. K's choice of opioids & replacing them with a different opioid that didn't work as well and/or that the retreat insisted on spacing the dosages farther apart than Dr. K had written the RX for, based on their medical experience! There were many other problems related to staff incompetence but that isn't relevant here. I must have mumbled sometime during day 2 to call my doctor, and they did. Instead of having his incredibly competent PA Karen, who is a gem of a nurse & a lovely human being too, Dr. K took the call himself at the office. Then he followed up when he got home. Then he followed up again the next day, later on in day 3 and day 4. Multiple times per day. DR. K. DID NOT STOP FOLLOWING UP PERSONALLY UNTIL THE MATTER WAS COMPLETELY RESOLVED. Which took days because the retreat lied outright or ommited the truth. The nurses at the recovery retreat were completely unhinged over a surgeon personally overseeing the aftercare from start to finish of his patient. Let that sink in. And that is the type of care you'll get with Dr. K. I had my surgeon as my advocate when I wasn't able to advocate for myself. In case you were wondering, my husband visited nightly and although he is no shrinking violet himself, wisely demurred to Dr. K because having another person in the mix would not solve the problem. He knew Dr. K would solve this problem and just wanted me to have the recovery we anticipated. So, week two. I haven't taken an opioid or OTC pain reliever in a week. Resting comfortably at home & almost standing up straight sans a walker. Good luck on your surgery research. If you choose Dr. K, know you made the right decision.
