Still Healing but Looking Good!
I had a tummy tuck with muscle repair on 5/30/23. Everything went very well and pain was minimal due to the oxy medication. I am 2 weeks post op today and seeing results daily. I would like to share some good things I did during my recovery and some terrible things I’ve done in an effort to help someone else.
What NOT to do:
1. By day 7 post op, I was feeling pretty good so I drove myself to an appointment, cleaned a little, and cooked for my family. BIG MISTAKE! That night I began bleeding more in my drains when prior to that, bleeding had slowed down. I also felt very faint and experienced more pain that evening. REST, REST, REST!
2. I removed my incision tape on my own versus giving it an opportunity to fall off. It was still very secure by day 9 when I removed it. My incision line was GORGEOUS that night, but then it started opening some superficially because I took it off too soon. DO NOT REMOVE YOUR TAPE! I know now that it’s there ti maintain proper tension ensuring a nice thin scar.
What I did right:
1. I began lymphatic massages 2 days after surgery and continue to do them! I started out doing 3 a week. Now I’m down to one a week. I know that it has helped in my healing.
2. I purchased healfast on Amazon and did both the preop and post op faithfully. I truly believe it made a difference.
3. Not pooping after surgery? Do a concoction of 8oz of prune juice mixed with about 2 tbsp of milk of magnesium. Warm it up and drink. You will go within 30 min-12 hrs.
4. I began listening to my body and resting. I also retaped my incision and left it alone. That’s when it began healing.
I am still healing, but so far so good.
