WORTH IT
Dr. Vath and his team were exceptional. I had done consults with 4 different doctors and when I met Dr. Vath I knew he was right for me (don't blink an eye for the $75 fee... totally worth it!!!). I loved how he took his time with me and was clearly more than a talented doctor... he was an artisit. I knew in my gut (wink wink) that I could trust him and I was in the best of hands.
I am a mother of two kiddos (3 and 6 years old) and I also teach dance & yoga. I had horrible separation of my abdonminal wall (Diastasis recti) and after trying physical therapy, exercise, diet (the list goes on) my stomach still protruded out and my belly button was also herniated. My mobility is extemely important to me as a yoga and dance teacher, so I was definitely terrified of having this surgery but I knew that the long term results would be worth it. Bye bye back pain and looking 3 months pregnant all the time (even though I am thin!).
I am only 18 days post-op and I feel great. Please know that I was in excellent shape before, so that has most likely made my recovery better. I still have a lot of healing to do but I am so relieved to have it done and be on the road to having a STRONG (intact!) CORE again! The removal of the stretched skin is just icing on the cake to me.
I had to let go of a lot of weird guilt to move forward with this and I'm so glad I did. Usually when you think of tummy tucks, you think of people who are seriously overweight (and that's fine too of course!) but as I've gone on this journey, I've learned that there are a lot of people in my boat who were in great shape but needed this surgery done to regain the integration of their stomach muscles and to repair damage done by pregnancy. It absolutely has improved my confidence as well because I think I was a bit obsessive about my stomach protruding out and what clothes I had to wear to hide it. Even 18 days post-op I can wear shirts I never dreamed of wearing! :) That's very empowering!
Long story short.... no one can tell you what you need to do with your body. Listen to your heart and step fully into your decision. And if you are looking for the PERFECT doctor... you've found one here with Dr. Vath.
