My background is that I had gastric bypass 14 years ago, and lost 110 lbs, a tummy tuck 12 years ago, regained 50 lbs and lost the 50 by changing my diet using Ideal Protein (it was a fantastic diet that truly changed the way I eat). Whether a result of the lost weight or hereditary, I have always wanted to have my under eye bags removed. My mom had the same issues and had a full face lift, neck lift and the fat pads removed from under her eyes...so a strong case for these issues running in the family. After 26 years with a company, I was laid off. I was ok with it and honestly excited about new possibilities. I got a good package and with my husband's support, made the decision to get the mini face lift and lower bleph done while I had time off from work. I'm actively looking for a job and was hopeful that the surgery wouldn't slow down my search dramatically and would improve my odds of competing with younger workers.
I initially met with Dr Arch Miller (who did my tummy tuck and did a fantastic job!) to find out about fat graphs in tear troughs. I had tried injectables and it worked great but was $1,500 and only lasted a year. And as the injectable went away, I had loose skin and more wrinkles. Really?! I quickly discovered it was cheaper to do a lower bleph. And while I was there asked him about my waggle. So after much discussion with my husband and looking at all the options, I signed up for the mini face lift and the lower bleph.
I was excited about the 2 week recovery time. I am writing this several days out so will break it down by day.

Surgery day

I don't remember a lot about the day. Surgery lasted 6 hours and then a couple of hours in recovery. I was there 9 1/2 hours all together. Swelling didn't really set in until the day after.

Post op day 1

Had the drains removed and was in considerable pain. I wasn't aware of how much my ears would hurt. Pretty swollen and didn't really recognize myself. I slept a lot.

Dr Miller is an artist. He did my tummy tuck and breast lift 15 years ago and it has stood the test of time. I couldn't be happier with the results of my lower Bleph and Omego of mini facelift. His staff is supportive. The only ding I'll give him and his staff is around the post op pain medicine. I'm only on one prescription and has a serious drug interaction with the pain med were I was having a hard time breathing (to the point of wanting to call 911). They called in another pain med and it would had the same interaction. I wish they would have checked that. But he was very responsive to my calls and ultimately I moved to Tylenol. Which days how manageable the pain was 2 days out. That said, I would strongly recommend Dr Miller. He is a miracle worker!
