My insurance excludes bariatric procedures. While researching my self pay options, I discovered Dr. Illan with BariatricPal MX. You will never read one bad word about this doctor online. His reviews are stellar, his patients completely satisfied. Although I'd never been to Mexico before, I went into this surgery with the utmost confidence. I was sleeved on May 12th, 2017. At 8mo post op I've lost 90lbs. My experience was so easy. Despite traveling solo, I was never actually alone. I arrived in San Diego, they picked me up right away, I had all my pre-op testing done and was operated on that very night. The hospital was clean and modern. Nurses and valets check on you constantly and you're also able to commiserate with fellow patients. Recovery was very easy for me as well. I was a little sore but luckily had no gas pains at all. I was able to sleep, sight see around Tijuana, and fly home without any trouble. My incisions healed up perfectly and I've suffered no serious complications of any sort. Now, I only got to meet and talk to Dr Illan in person for a few brief moments, but for me, that was enough. Join his private FB group and you will see the level of care and dedication this doctor provides his patients. He's always available to answer questions, or even just to cheer on our successes. For those who'd like even more interaction with their doctor, it is also possible to schedule phone consultations with him beforehand. I literally don't even have this much access to my personal doctors at home. I would (and have!) recommend Dr. Illan to anyone needing bariatric surgery.
