During the consultation and minutes before the procedure, Dr Tauber agreed to reduce the edges of my nose and the size of the nostril ( alar base reduction) he didn’t touch the nostril, only reduce slightly the edges, consequently my nose stayed the very same size (the nostrils are the body of the nose, if they stay the same size the nose will basically remind same size..specially when the nostril rise up, which is my case.) the before/ after pic are almost imperceptible to me, others won't noticed at all. He also left a slight asymmetry in the bottom, where the two small cuts were made (most alar base include cut from the edges to base of the nostrils, mine are just two small cuts in the front) the right size which was the first side he did, drop about 2-3 mm lower than the left side (perhaps because one cut was made inward, the second cut was made outside which is the side that drop now) This was addressed when he removed the stitches six days later, he said he couldn’t see it. A second a surgeon I went to see for a second opinion agreed with me (anybody can see it from the bottom with a mirror paying 5 seconds of attention..) Dr. Tauber agreed to complete/fix his jobs if I pay an additional $2,000. After a second thought and a second pro opinion ..I decided don't come back -I will give the procedure 2 stars- but to the results/ultimate outcome -1 star- sorry it didn't worth the $3000 cost ( affordable yes, but because the lack of successful results rather expensive and useless) no to mention the long exhausting 3 trips to Albany. -Is no my intention bad mouth Dr Tauber but to leave here my honest opinion, this could have done much better honestly.. he owes to complete/fix the job, which is a simple half hour procedure, instead of asking for an addition sum of money, I get paying more because you want something else, here was a matter to complete the job and to fix a cosmetic mistake that was left. At the end will cost me double fix this, finding another surgeon that specialist in facial surgery ( his portfolio is more than anything bodies I am realizing now.)

Alar base reductions are done under local anesthesia while the patient is awake. Patients are encouraged to give their input during the entire procedure in a very active back and forth discussion. As such, we take our time performing the procedure. The final closure is only performed when the patient affirms that they are happy with both the amount of the reduction and the final shape.
