2 thru 4-week postop
My apologizes for delay in posting. Recovery has been going consistently well. Swelling is still a MAIN issue but going according to planned recovery expectations. Week 2.5 I began lymphatic massage sessions once a week and will continue for 12-weeks. The massages were uncomfortable to begin, but now at my 3rd massage I can say it was more comfortable and my range of motion has improved. I still have lumps (fibrosis on my sides at bra line) and it can be very tight, but massages and the use napped lymphatic pads under faja is breaking up the fibrosis daily. At home once a day I perform self-lymphatic massage, stretch, and walk 1 mile to keep my mobility. Dr. Khalifeh has been supportive and thorough, my massage therapist compliments his work each week. I have been cleared to continue walking daily, light yoga, swimming, begin scar treatment at 5 weeks, and reducing use of faja for activities (i.e., swimming or for special occasions). Attached are my 2-week pictures and a 4-week picture with a Belly-Shirt on...my REALSELF is re-emerging!!! I will post more pictures soon, hope this is helpful.
1-week Post Sx
Today is 1-week post-surgery. Surprisingly, pain was not a primary issue. Soreness and stiffness were the discomfort points, which interfered with being able to sleep at night. I eventually gave up on protecting my derriere and went for resting anyway comfortably while protecting my abdominal wound. Sleeping then became less of an issue. I switch positions between the power-lift recliner, booty bean bag inflatable, and zero-gravity chair. Coughing and sneezing are the WORSE, that is when pain becomes an issue. I have been avoiding laughing, because just little snickers have preluded the destructive pain that would come from a hardy laugh. At my 5-day postop appointment, my doctor said everything is healing well and switched me from binder to faja. There still is a lot a swelling in my abdomen, so 1 drain remains. The wound still feels very fragile, so I still must take it easy. My husband states my stomach looks good, I have more hips, yet not much change to my backside. I go back to the doctor in 5 days and will post more pictures afterwards. Removing the faja is not comfortable, therefore, I do not feel up to taking pictures at shower time. Healing will reveal my Real Self in time. Happy Healing everyone!!!
Day 1 Post
All is and went well, thanks to GOD! The surgery took about 4.5 hours. I don't remember anything after being rolled into the surgery room. I woke up with an abdominal binder on (that I have to keep on for 5 days before changing to faja) and my husband ready to take me home. On the ride home I used a boppy pillow to sit and a standard pill in between me and the seatbelt. I slept the whole ride home without any discomfort. I have one drain and have been expelling about 100 ml per day. I am only sleeping about every 1.5 hours before needing to use the restroom, and then I walk for about 10 minutes. I am sore like I was working out 3 days straight, the main discomfort is when I get up from lying down or sitting down. Also, I can feel the fluid my stomach and this makes the skin really tight. My buttocks is super hard and uncomfortable. I'm trying my best just to take it easy, it is hard. Medications: prescribed narcotic and antibiotic, Tylenol extra strength, and HealFast supplement. Food: I am staying light with crackers, soup, toast, fruit, pineapple juice, and lots of water. I will post pictures when I go for my post-op appointment in 4 days.
