WORTH IT
This is it! Yesterday I took my last pill of accutane! I am so excited to be done but also so scared to stop taking the pills. What if it comes back? According to my derm it was the right time to stop. Not because i reached the accumulative dose (not by far), but because I haven’t had a single pimple since March. I am so ready to have my normal eyes, lips and eyelashes back! I’ll keep you updated on how things are going from now on and how i deal with the leftover scars.

So it seems i’m not quite done yet. Went do the derm yesterday and she said i have to do one month more on 10 mg to see if my skin stays calm. It was kind of A bummer, i was hoping to finally be done now! But well, four more weeks!

Hi Desyh, your skin is looking great. I am 42 and have been suffering with hormonal acne since I turned about 28. Its not severe but significant enough to me. I also have tried it all, both topical and oral medications and nothing has really worked long term. I and preparing to start with accutane but it doesn't seem like an easy process due to the requirements (monthly labs, pregnancy tests, no drinking, no sun, etc) and the possible side effects are a bit alarming, I am more concerned with the psychological ones than the physical ones. My next step is to go for my first blood work but I am really reconsidering due to my fear of the side effects. Best of luck and look forward to continue reading your progress.

I cannot believe i have been on this drug for five months already! I went to see my derm last week and she told me I needed to continue for at least one, maybe two months. Apparently you don’t have to take the cumulative dose anymore (?). She says when my skin has been clear for three months, then I can stop. I hope she is right! I have been clear for two months now, the scars are still there and still red, but that is another problem I will tackle later!
