I've gotten a lot of advise and info from this site so I thought it was my turn to contribute. I'm a 34 year old mom of 2 and was planning to get rhino for a while. I did not know where to start so spend a lot of time over internet trying to get as much info as possible. After all of that, i wanted 2 things. A doc who specializes in and does only noses and one who could do closed rhino for me cause i thought recovery would be easier as i had very thick skin on my nose.
My search for docs ended with 3 choices and this was how. My 1st and only choice initially was Dr. Theodore Golden who specializes in closed rhinos and does only noses. He examined my nose and said due to the nature of my skin the procedure wouldn't make a significant change. it might just make my nose appear smaller.
I was very disappointed but at least happy he told me the truth. He however recommended Dr.Shan Baker and said he might help me.
So Dr.Baker 2nd doc of choice. And while I was waiting to see dr. golden in the waiting room i happened to talk to a girl who was accompanying her friend to see dr. golden. obviously we ended up talking about noses and i mentioned how cute her nose was and she mentioned that she had open rhino with dr.william sabbagh. Never heard of the doc but after i saw her nose i definitely had to consider him.
There was a 2 month wait to see Dr.baker for consult so in the mean while i was able to see dr.sabbagh.
The consultation was quick but dr.sabbagh did answer all my questions and he said that i had to have an open rhino with osteotomies and tip work. he sounded confident and i felt that he knew what he was talking about. I was pleased with him and before i made my choice i wanted to see dr. baker as well.
My appointment with dr.Baker was elaborate . He was very experienced. he even wrote books on rhinoplasty. He showed me the pics of his work. he said i didn't need osteotomies but a lot of tip work.
Boy, this was getting complicated and consuming a lot of my time.
I had to make a choice and i chose dr. sabbagh. Why? I trusted my intuition. After all what i read and found i thought he was close to what i had in my mind. he was clear that i could get a better nose that fitted my face and not perfect text book version.
I had the procedure done on nov 8th. the recovery wasn't as bad as i imagined. the first 3 days are the worst. its not the pain but not being able to breathe through nose is the biggest issue. i felt better in a week when most of the bruising was gone and they removed the implants stuffed in nose. Most of the inflammation ( when i say that, its the one when some one looks at you and says who punched you in your face kind )subsided in 2 weeks. there was still a lot of soreness and inflammation but that never came in the way of everyday things and taking care of kids. In a month i felt better.
So for me , the biggest challenge was picking the doctor. I'm happy with my nose. No, i still do not have the perfect nose that some one would stop and compliment but i have a nose that looks good with my face. The weird part is ,to the people that i know and i haven't mentioned about my rhino don't even ask me if i have done a nose job when they see me. They just stare at me and say i look good and have lost weight. Any ways i'm enjoying my new nose.

I recently went to Dr. Baker and didn't feel good about him. I have collapsed nostrils do to double jaw surgery I had in January. I found this website and the review about Dr. B weren't good. I got a second opinion with Dr Zuliani , his reviews are 5 stars. I felt so much better. He said I'm not ready yet for surgery that I'm still healing and to come back in 3 months where as Dr. B was ready to do surgery. I'm so glad I got the second opinion
