Disappointing to learn not everyone is a good candidate for surgery
I went in to have my procedure on March 25th. In getting ready to go in for the surgery I was given 5 different anesthesia drugs. When I was brought out of anesthesia the anestheia nurse told me I had developed hives, rashes, my face swelled up and they were worried I would go into anaphylaxis so Dr. Loessin terminated the surgery. I spoke to the ladies in Dr. Loessin's office to reschedule my surgery and they told me the doctor said in order for him to reschedule the procedure, I would need to find an allergist to get tested to see which of the 5 drugs I had the allergic reaction to. I called various offices all over South Florida and most of them carry one of the 5 drugs. Each of them said they do not carry the other 4 drugs and that a surgeon would have to supply these drugs because they are what they call 'hospital drugs', type of controlled substances. I called Dr. Loessin's office and advised his staff that I an unable to be tested for all 5 drugs. I must say that I am very disappointed. I was really looking forward to that much needed body and self image boost I was seeking. However, I do believe all things happen and in my case don't happen for a reason. Honestly this experience was quite scary. The anesthesia nurse told me I was lucky that they noticed the hives and swelling before the procedure started so they were able to run a Benedryl drip in my IV and bring me back out. I will say that since I still don't know which drug caused the allergic reaction and I am unable to be tested as Dr. Loessin requested, I am afraid of it happening again. So at this point I called Dr. Loessin's office and requested a refund (excluding the nonrefundable portion) to my Care Credit. His staff said they would speak to Dr. Loessin and call me back. I hope they call me soon as I have been making payments since January on a surgery that I now know I will not be able to have.

I too have been planning these procedures with Dr. Scott Loessin for over two years now.
He has been great about seeing me in his office, multiple times to answer all my questions. He met with me and my mom to put our minds and nerves at ease. He is the trauma doctor in our area so he is the primary one in the ER and local hospital to fix people's faces when they have been involved in accidents; and his understanding of the intricate nerves in the face really came through when we were discussing how to fix the scar I have on my nose (from a dog bite a long time ago), and in the procedure he will address and fix my deviated septum. From our conversations, it sounds like I will have the same, but scar free, much cuter, smaller nose that I will able to breath better with, and maybe no more snoring!
Additionally, despite eating clean and being very active, running marathons, 100 mile bike ride for charity and events like that, I have struggled with my weight all my life. I tried many... I mean many of the diets, cleanses, gluten free, paleo, and yes I mean "lifestyle changes" also. I would lose weight, like during my last go at in November I lost 12 pounds, but I end up gaining the 12 plus more back. I have always been 'big' on my short 5'1 frame, hiding it best I can in baggy oversized clothes, hoping the world will overlook the big and focus on my face, but truth is I no longer want to hide. I want to go outside in a bathing suit and enjoy the tropics, sunshine and gorgeous weather. The planning of my procedures or what I call my "Non-mommy makeover" has led me to do some deep healing work, in the emotional, spiritual (working on why subconsiously I felt the need to accumulate this weight for protection my whole life) and physical realms. I visited a natural path who helped me discover that the reason I was sluggish in the morning, had brain fog, my moods would fluctuate and I was not able to sleep well at night was because I was in adrenal exhaustion. I wanted to give my body the best opportunity to recover smoothly, safely and with ease after the procedures, so I have been very dedicated to taking all natural, food based supplements that are adaptagenic (they adapt to the body when ingested) to heal my adrenals and make sure my body, especially my internal organs are all functioning optimally, as I want the best possible results from the surgery. I cut out caffeine, alcohol, all nightshade foods (potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers) and started drinking warm lemon water and celery juice in the morning and plant based protein smoothie in the monring. I plan to continue taking the food supplements up to two weeks before my surgery.
I view these procedures as a healthy much needed boost in my life. I want the outside to reflect my beauty inside so here we go.. the date is set for March 25th.
Before pictures to follow as soon as I can take one that I am not too embarrassed to share.
