Almost 2 Months Post-Op

Physical therapy has worked wonders on my body I feel awesome. I’m not back at 100% yet but I’m pretty close. I was finally able to wear some jeans and feel comfortable. I have not felt happy or comfortable in a pair of jeans in over 8 years. I didn’t have to worry about wearing a long shirt or cardigan to cover my butt. I wasn’t concerned with my terrible side profile and all of the sagging. Dr.Mir did a wonderful job and I can’t thank God enough. It’s still early in my recovery so I haven’t been able to start working out, but I’m confident that when I get in the gym I can tone things up as I don’t plan on getting a fat transfer or any reconstructive surgery.

6 Weeks Post-Op

I’m about six weeks post-op and I started physical therapy this week. I will be going 2-3 times a week to help my range of motion and break up the scar tissue in my lower back, around my incision, and a few areas in my butt.
The first session consisted of the Graston Technique to break up the scar tissue and some exercises to help stretch my back and help me to freely move. I will say when I woke up the day after therapy I could feel a major difference. My lower back pain was not as intense as it normally is and overall I didn’t feel as tight in that area.
Things are not done after the surgery. I’ve mastered listening to my body and knowing when I need to address an issue. For all of you preparing for surgery I would suggest integrating physical therapy into your post-op recovery.

One Month Post-Op

I’m exactly one month post op today. Dr.Mir released me to fly home after he removed my sutures. I stayed in LA about 3 weeks. The top two drains came out a week after I left the hospital. The bottom two came out three days later. Thus far my wound has not shown any signs of opening. I have still been taking things slow because I’m still early on in the healing process. For the past two weeks I have used Aquaphor on my scar, but I will start my scar tape today.
